CBS Chicago Blogger Tim Baffoe has asked readers to pick the college team he roots and hopefully writes for this season. Whoever gets the most votes by noon Friday wins so be sure to write in MARQUETTE!
It would be nice to get a little love in Chicago!
Also there doesn't appear to be a limit how many times you can vote.
Must not be, just voted for MU 20 times.
I've dropped in about 100.
Vote often, it is the Chicago way.
I got about 30 in there.
If Marquette makes up even a small portion of the 'other' category it's a blowout. I wish I could see the look on Baffoe's face when he looks at the 'other' category.
I put out a tweet asking MU Fans to vote.
Baffoe re-tweeted it.
The "other" catergory is stuck at 1,000 but the total votes still goes up when you vote. Keep voting!

No, but the regular poll items don't total up to the total votes over 1000 listed at the bottom, so I'm guessing no one expected the individual lines to get more than 1000 votes, but it is still counting them.
If you keep voting, the other percentage actually goes down as it is stuck at 1000 but total votes keep going up.
Awesome voting guys. We broke the poll!
Keep going!
This is absolutely hilarious how the rest of the votes are being dominated
I think these "other" votes are AT LEAST half Marquette, too.
when does the poll end?
Friday at noon.
I think we win. So who's sending Tim a t-shirt?
Don't rule out University of Illinois people voting.

Baffoe says right in the article that he's never liked the Illini, so even if they win, he's just going to ignore that.
lol just voted about 30 times as well
i had about 1/3 of the votes between 1900 and 2000 total
I just was told the entire inhabitants of St. Andrew's Cemetary will be voting soon
Erp, I just got warned, have been given a "cooling off" period. :P
Still growing!
Does the guy not like Marquette. Not even listed as a choice.
Marquette isn't exactly the first school that comes to mind of most people.
I do hope it was someone here that I was racing to the 3,000th vote.
BTW - If that was you, suck it --- I'm Mr. 3,000 now. Nobody can Ctrl-V, Click, Click faster than me.
Damn you!
I just lost out on 3,100 as well.
I'm blocked now as well. Time to move onto the iPad!
Just got us to 3,400

The percentage of the "other team" is dropping, which makes me concerned that some other schools are pushing their team now.

It drops every time anyone votes for an Other team
I got it up to 3480 before I was given a cooling off period...
It drops when you vote for other because other's vote doesn't go higher than 1,000. It keeps counting the total votes however.
Therefore the more votes other gets, the lower the percentage because it is stuck at 1,000.
Here is his actual poll results instead of the poorly embedded thing on his website. The percentages are right on polldaddy:

Upped it to 4,168 total votes. Cooling off for the second time today.

Yeah, I looked around for anything but it looks like it's hidden from everyone but the poll creator.
Did anyone else actually read the article? This guy sounds like a d-bag. Can't say I want him watching our "inferior" product all season and longing for the good ol' days of the NBA.
His profile said he attended Iowa, my second least favorite big 10 team behind Madison. Iowa fans are obnoxious and ignorant. I guess that can be said for a lot of biased college sports fans.
I figured out why the % of other votes goes down the more that people vote. The vote totals go up, but the program is setup to count no more than 1,000 votes for other when figuring out the percentages.
We are the 99%!

Welcome to 10 hours ago.
Just pushed the total past 4700. He's going to wish he never asked! Gotta invite him onto Scoop!
For some reason, I keep laughing every time I see that DePaul has the most votes out of all of the listed teams.
Just added 20 votes for good measure.
Ends at noon.

Look at it this way, at least he'd be filling a void we've had for a couple months around here.
With each of us in this thread voting as many times as we have, and I've voted more than I care to mention, can MU lose this vote? Not based on the fact that I've voted for the Warriors more than the total of the other schools listed...
So did the Warriors win?
It's 12:40 and I can still vote. Guessing he's not looking at it too closely.
About an hour ago, he re-tweeted Titan's tweet:

Never tweet from a phone with auto-correct. Should say "here" instead of "here's"
He just tweeted:
Quotewell, the people have spoken and the votes have been tallied. I am now a college basketball fan of... OTHER!

poll is still open...i just pumped in another 40 or so votes.
i think we should dump in another 1000 or so for MArqueete just for good measure
You can tweet him @Ten_Foot_Midget
Ok, I just pushed the Other total to 5,800.

Ask him if he's going to be writing about the Warriors all season.
Looks like we got it.

I think that the most appropriate way to initiate Baffoe to the team would be to let him know that some controversy exists as to whether he has become a Golden Eagle or a Warrior! Who wouldn't rather be a Warrior?
I just tossed in 100 for the Warriors.....took the total vote count from 6000 to 6100...just in case he has ANY second thoughts. ;D

Awesome, but...... we have already won.
It was pretty cool to see that the power of MU Scoop-ers voting early and often can effectively tip the balances in our favor. It's too bad we can't vote in the AP polls! Well, maybe this Baffoe is a voter that will help our ranking this year... not that it matters. But I'm all for creating a big bandwagon this year!
