TC as a 'mystery candidate'

This article also says Bill Self was offered the job but chose to stay at Kansas. These people are out of their minds if they think someone leaves Kansas to coach Arkansas.
or that someone would leave Marquette for Arkansas.
Arkansas is a pit. Awful, awful state.
Too late to worry about this one.
Altman is coming back to Creighton. Arkansas job is now open again.

Yup, that's what it appears. Had the presser and then did a Majerus and wanted back to Omaha.
Or a Ken Anderson. Remember when Anderson accepted the UW job, only to get cold feet? The job eventually went to Steve Yoder.
I actually think Ken Anderson was in the mix with Cofield. I knew a couple of players on Eau Claire's team at that time who told me that Anderson had met with UW and was told to think about getting a staff together, they just had a few details to work out. I guess they didn't get worked out (or maybe he backed out) because a couple of days later UW announced the hiring of Cofield. The players told me that at the time of Cofield's anouncement Anderson thought the job was going to be his. This had far reaching consequences for Wisconsin basketball as Cofield later hired Bo who worked with him when he was head coach at College of Racine, i.e Dominican College.
ESPN has reported that Crean was already offered the job and turned it down
QuoteAltman was believed to be at least the Razorbacks' sixth target. Arkansas officials reportedly offered the job to Texas A&M's Billy Gillespie, Kansas' Bill Self, Southern California's Tim Floyd, Memphis' John Calipari and Marquette's Tom Crean, who each turned the job down.

Anderson may have been considered when Cofield was hired but he definately accepted and resigned when Yoder was hired. The search was a comedy of eroros since the AD Elroy Hirsch was on a cruise and basically out of communication right after Cofield left so UW did not have a smooth search. If my faulty memory serves me correctly Majerus was rumored to be a candidate and within a short time it was announced that Raymonds would coach one more year and then Majerus would be the HC. Really beleive Rick could have used a few more years at Hank's side before taking over.
I didn't realize that Anderson was offered when Yoder was hired. I had moved out of Wisconsin and without an internet didn't realize all that was happening in the state. Learned something new.
