Given the way Buzz used all his players last night, you can expect him to play next year. Especially becasue our three point shooting really stunk last night.

Defense is the concern that would keep him on the bench. He has a year to work on that (
and his lateral quickness), so if he can make progress on those related issues, he should have an opportunity to contribute as the team's best three point shooter.

Next year he will be the only "lights out" shooter on the roster, so he may play more than expected. I'm already concerned about how many 3 point shooters we have this year......next year we lose DJO and Crowder, so JT's marksmanship could be in high demand.

That would only be an issue if there was credibility to be lost in the first place.
if we need someone to tickle the twine from outside for a spurt or two, buzz should put him in. run a couple of plays, have your 4 best defenders pick it up, score a quick 6 or 9 and sit him down. that's what i'd do. remember mike kinsella-couldn't do much. then, before one of his last games, i see him during warm-ups raining threes??? crean puts him in, and the guy drains a few and it was like where the H has that been all year-just sayin

Kinsella was battling injuries most of his career. He would have been a good player, if he was not hurt most of the time.

That was the ESPN College Game Day game against Pitt in... '07 I want to say? I remember that vividly... Kinsella nailing one three, then another, then forcing Aaron Gray out to the three point line and us getting a few baskets inside that way. And he only came in because Barro was in foul trouble. I could see us playing Thomas in a spot role like that more often. I mean, they obviously don't create the same kind of matchup trouble, but if he's as good a shooter as everyone says, running a few screens a game for him probably can't hurt.
The Indiana game today was close in the first half until Hulls nailed two straigth threes. Hulls is not the quickest player in ther world, but he sure can shoot the ball. I do not see a lot of three point shooting on our team this year. DJO and Crowder are probably our top 2 three point shooters and they will be gone next year.

Jamail is also a good three-point shooter, his problem is that he's streaky. Hopefully he can earn 8-12 minutes or more and be a regular off the bench this year. That might give him a chance to build some consistency going into his junior year. I think Mayo and Jamil also have the chance to decent three-point shooters. TJ Taylor is also regarded as a good from range, though he might suffer similar streakiness to Jones.
By no means will we be as good as we were with Acker, Cubillan, Hayward, and DJO, but we've still got some weapons from deep, not including Thomas.

8-12 minutes? I hope much more, he's a great offensive weapon, not sure how he is on the defensive side but he's long. He can make up for defensive quickness with his reach. I think Jones, Mayo and by next year Junior will be solid 3 point shooters.

Wow. That one at about 1:06 was from Stephen Jackson range (unnecessarily longer than NBA range). If he can get his shot off at this level, which is a big if, yikes.

Thanks...only went down to the pro-am twice this summer and he wasn't playing the last time I was there. First time he didn't hit squat. It seems odd to me that he would have consistency issues because his stroke is so nice...would be a big deal if he could knock them down consistently this year. I was happy to see him hit a couple shots off the dribble as I didn't see much of that from him during the last two summers or last year.
There will be games this year were Jones will hit 3 or 4 threes, but most of the games he will hit none. He is very streaky. We need a player that will consistantly hit the three, if he is left wide open. Friday I saw two wide open three opportunities. Blue missed badly and Gardner passed it up. My guess is Buzz will not let Gardner shoot the three.

I am too lazy to go back and get the articles, but comments when he was recruited were that he was a streaky shooter.

As Tony Benford notes, both TJ and Steve Taylor are excellent 3 point shooters.
