Title: MU TV/Radio Question
Post by: Tugg Speedman on November 11, 2011, 08:14:55 PM
Jim Mac is doing the Big East TV Telecast.  George Thompson is doing color with Homer.

Is this a one game deal (if so, why?) or have Jim Mac and Homer split?

This was done last year in the non-conference schedule.

It's because Time Warner Sports is producing the TV broadcast. As long as that's the case, Mac is on the TV.

speaking of radio, when is mu basketball radio going to upgrade their broadcast?  i can barely get them outside of milwaukee.  when i get off the freeway at waukesha, i'm losing them already and pickin up stuff from chicago and cleveland?  a big time program as we are should be able to do better...a lot

The radio limitation is a serious barrier for fans.  I could not get a decent feed on the car radio until Oak Creek (I was driving up from Chi).  I could hear the MSU/NC feed from across the lake.

in a car?   ?-(

if we are a big time program as i believe we are, there must be a radio station able to get us past waukesha with some gusto without getting some station with ufo freaks interrupting from gnome alaska.  cheesus, basketball is our football.  we need some wattage behind jimmy mac and hometeam

Break out the TuneIn Radio App on your phone then. There is only one station in the area with a full signal and that is 620. The rest need to power down at night due to their license.

I think MU should explore (and maybe they have) adding an FM partner or two.  I seem to remember as a kid they were carried on the country station in West Bend (92.5?) and recently they were carried on a Catholic Talk station out of Port Washington.  Maybe if they can get picked up by a smaller FM station or 2 in the area that might help in gaining full coverage in the Milwaukee area.

To me, the situation is far better than WISN.  I get reception until Oconomowoc.  Then shortly after, pick up 100.5 for the remainder of the program on my way back to Madison.  I lost WISN shortly after Waukesha, although that did not matter as they ended the program as quickly as they could.
