Sad day indeed. The baseball world just lost it's greatest asshat of all time.

Pujols is still playing.
I'm glad that drunk won't be tarnishing the good name of baseball anymore. Good riddance.
What are the odds he becomes baseball's version of Bobby Knight, being the dry crotchety old man in the announcer's booth/studio?
Damn. Mis-read the subject. Thought he was on life support and someone pulled the plug.
Man, only 5 posts in and there's already a lot of jealousy in this thread already. I guess that's what happens when you're a fan of a shi**y franchise.
I don't get the Pujols hate, but anyway, I think La Russa goes down as a great manager and the fact that he often got in his own way will be remembered less and less over time. It always seemed that his teams' results were the combination of a) always being able to get great performances out of his guys - particularly his role players and b) then almost undoing that with his textbook overmanaging. I think given his titles and longevity as a manager, the first perseveres as a legacy and the latter gets forgotten.

now I'm done.
that could have been me at any number of times while I was at MU
His legacy was written on the ballfield. I am not a Card fan either but respect his record

Yes, jealousy, what else would you call it? I'm sure you'd trade a Ron Roenicke DUI for 2 World Series titles.
I want the manager of my baseball team to win World Series and TLR has deliverd 2. That's a hell of a lot more than any other manager of the Cubs or Brewers can say.
watch him pull a brett favre and show up in a cubbies uni with pujols playin first??? ;D
Nope. Francona and Fielder.
francona would be ok, but if prince goes there, that would really suck-i mean say it ain't so suck, like what the chuck suck, like...
