Title: 2011-12 Basketball Schedule in Outlook/ics
Post by: nathanziarek on October 31, 2011, 04:40:08 PM
I know MU provides a schedule in Outlook format, but it never seem to work right, and I'm pretentious and anal enough to think the way I format my calendars looks better.

I tested this a little, but here are some instructions:

First, try clicking this: webcal://p04-www.icloud.com/ca/subscribe/1/Bv8SMK2P-WBzkpWRGY_V71bq5aAFSKRXRtZY72akpiZzB0ozyUmFoYyhjmIv5ZEnBRFVWuz-PDcCGhY3eMCRuKpe7bxy03YvJzth6K7XnQE

Some systems are set up to automatically take this link and send it right to your calendar application.

If that doesn't work, here are some instructions for other calendar programs (feel free to add more):

Outlook 2010:

iCal (Lion):

Google Calendar (this doesn't seem to work ... you can download it and import it, but you won't get updates to the times. Maybe someday Apple and/or Google will fix this):

iOS (iPhone, iPad):

For those of us that still like to pin paper schedules to our cubicle walls, has anyone found a nice color PDF version of the schedule?

For Google calendar: It wouldn't let me add via URL, complaining the robots.txt wasn't allowing crawling.  However, I could save the file as a download, and then "import" into Google with the saved file.

Thanks!

I was able to save the iCal link as an .ics file and import into Lotus Notes.  Works great!  Thanks Utile

That's ... silly. Google is respecting the "do not crawl" directive intended for its search bots in its calendar tool. I wonder if the same thing applies when using Google Reader?

I looked around a little, but don't see a fix. Downloading it will work, you just won't get any updates.

Remember this time last season, when Creighton fans wondered aloud if Doug McDermott might redshirt in his first season in Omaha? Instead of sitting out a season and getting stronger physically, McDermott completed a whirlwind 10 months that saw him go from Northern Iowa recruit to the first freshman in more than 50 years to earn a spot on the all-Valley first team — as a Bluejay, not a Panther.
Add a summer spent training and playing with the USA Under-19 team in the FIBA World Championships and a trip to the Bahamas, and McDermott's made the most of his year-plus in Omaha. Get tired reading that sentence? It was a lot for a true freshman to fit into a calendar year, basketball-wise. Still, McDermott isn't any worse for wear.

This is relevant to this discussion.

Ralph *was* either the most intelligent spambot we've ever seen, or a person actually putting some effort into their spam (notice the links in his profile, and the signature).   Either way, that's a past tense thing as far as his posting goes.

Silly indeed, nonetheless, thanks for the calendar!

How funny.  He seemed "Spammy" this morning but he hadn't updated his profile or signature with links yet.  That had to be some manual spamming :)

Just an FYI for anyone downloading the iCal (Lion)

If you want to sync your iPhone and iCal (after downloading the MU schedule), check the box in the iTunes "summary" tab. It will initially make your existing calendar events in your iPhone disappear, but you can just re-select them to show in the calendar app.

I added instructions to the initial post. Let me know if they are clear enough.

You can add the schedule to Google Calendar directly from the app:

Go to your Google Calendar
On the left side click Other Calendars  V
Settings

Does anyone have a 2012-2013 version of the schedule this year for the iPhone?
