Now when Georgetown wins the national title the Big East can get some respect.
I was bored so I looked into if a conference has ever won both the NCAA and the NIT. Turns out it's happened four times before (Big East in '61 & '03, Big 10 in '79, & ACC in '92). I used current conference affiliations so these numbers might not be 100% right, but I though it was interesting. Let's hope we can make it 5 times it's happened this year!
someone on this board predicted a Big East team would win the NIT. Whoever it was, congrats!
even if Georgetown wins the nat'l championship, i still don't know if the BE will get the respect it deserves. A lot of the people that give the respect love the ACC and don't care much what any other teams or conferences do other than their Dukies, etc. While it would prove that the BE is good and has been underrated in recent years, I don't know if it will do much to improve the overall image of it as a conference.
SEC has USC win the NIT and UF win the NCAA
Congratulations to our good friends from West Virgina (http://www.nbcsports.com/cbk/1295007/detail.html)! Gotta get me one of those t-shirts.
At least they didn't say "Best Vagina"
;)
