Burton is tight with Kevon. Maybe he wants to be in MKE to use his influences.
I'd love to see that, but isn't Looney at Hamilton? While Burton being in town wouldn't be a bad thing, I'm not sure how close a relationship they'd have.

EDIT 2: Not sure I'm happy with this move on Burton's part. The competition he would have faced at Brewster would be so much better than anything he'll see in Wisconsin. I know he wants to be the new face of Milwaukee basketball, and I guess it's easier to do that while playing in Milwaukee, but Brewster just seems like a better place to develop as a player.
Would he be able to work with the guys at MU to develop some skills and bond with the team, or is that not allowed while he's still in HS during the season? I see your point for sure Brew, but maybe being closer to Marquette has some good benefits too, especially if he gets to know some of the local recruits we're looking at.

Yes, Looney is at Hamilton. But, I can verify, they're tight. Also heard that Burton is flat out unreal. BTW, were Buzz to wrap up Kevon, call it a major, major signing. Whole lotta competiton goin' on.

Possibly... Did all 3 transfer there? He obviously wants to get back to Milwaukee, but it seems a little odd he is transferring now. He remains pretty positive in his twitter feed, but doesn't say much about what is going on. Maybe he thought he was going to have a co-leading or starting role with McGary and now he's coming off the bench?

It's not like its the end of the world or he's flunking out. Reports are he's a good student. This is the beginning of his junior year, and he probably thought he was going to start. However with the seniors and 5th year guys they have it might not be in the cards at Brewster this year. On the other board MMiller kind of hedged on the Vincent thing and said it could be another prep school.
There's something to say about practicing being the man on your team that everyone focuses on. Burton strikes me as a kid with big ambitions in life and playing the waiting game might not be what he wants at this point.
Perhaps he decided that after settling his college choice that it wasn't necessary or practical to spend so much money attending a prep school.

That is the first thought that went into my mind. He decided he was going to MU, and figured why spend the money and be 1,000 away from home when you don't have to be. And frankly if that MPS connection helps us with Nolan and Looney, I am all for it.

My thoughts exactly! I've thought for a while that Buzz has the potential to turn us into an MSU-esque program, and these guys could be our Flintstones

well if he goes to another prep school then I do not have a problem with it.
However, if he is simply coming home the negatives are too long to list but i list list a few....
1. mid-semester credit transfer issues/ semester grade implications.
2. clearinghouse grade/credit issues.
3. basketball at prep schools is year round...at public high schools very limited
4. vincent while good is much lesser talent playing and practicing against
5. MPS history of getting kids D1 eligible is woeful, see dwight buycks and hundreds of others
6. hometown distractions...greater chance of slip ups in and out of school
those are just some of my concerns....would much rather he stay awy from inner city milwaukee and all its hazards
p.s. those kids are at prep school on scholarship
Perhaps he just wants to be closer to home...and to the college program he plans to play for. Perhaps he feels he can have a greater influence within MKE and the other talented 2013/2014 kids in the MKE area, by competing against them, etc. He's said he wants to represent MKE, and be a role model/leader.
There is no doubt he will be on campus a lot and likely working out with the guys on the team in off seasons, etc. Perhaps some strength conditioning? Not sure how restrictive the NCAA is on kids being on campus prior to enrolling - but do know other kids like Tokoto, etc have come down to MU and played with the guys.
How about the fact that he is basically going to be living at the AL the next 2 years playing open Gym's with all our player's. I would think that would be some pretty good competition?
Does anybody know where Burton is going to school this year? Did he transfer to Vincent?
Burton is at Vincent and is eligible per Journal-Sentinel pre-season preview of the local HS scene earlier this week.
