Title: Article on BE moving "quickly" (whatever that means)

Looks like UCF, Air Force, Navy, Temple and (GUH) East Carolina are being pursued.  Lord knows we all could use a little more GEORGE O'LEARY in our lives.

"There was also speculation that Big East leaders would discuss raising the $5 million exit fee to prevent schools from bolting in the future. At this juncture, however, a source said that figure is unlikely to be increased."

Jeez...I wonder why...

So, other than Temple and maybe Air Force, we are adding basketball schools that rarely make the tourney?  And yet we know that the football schools don't want to agree to a buyout because they will flee at the first offer from another conference?

I want to keep the Big East as much as anyone but this is getting ridiculous.  More teams to share basketball dollars with yet the additional revenue from a basketball standpoint will not make up the difference.  What am I missing?

I am starting to see the merits of a basketball only conference.   >:(

Increasing the figure would give incentive for teams to leave before it is increased and that is why it is a bad idea.

No, they aren't willing to increase it because UL and WVU are looking at potential invites shortly and because UConn is wanting to get out rather openly.
