This quote seems manufactured...
Purvis said that the new conference realignment, which will eventually bring Pittsburgh and Syracuse to the ACC, factored in "heavily" to his decision.
"How could it not?" said Purvis, who added that he plans to sign during the NCAA's early signing period in November. "I mean the ACC was already one of the top conferences in the country, but with Pitt and Syracuse I think it's hands down the best basketball conference out there. That was really attractive to me because I want to play against the best."
Purvis also wants to play with the best, and with Oak Hill Academy (Mouth of Wilson, Va.) point guard Tyler Lewis already in the Wolfpack's 2012 recruiting haul, Purvis said that he has his sights set on Brewster Academy (Wolfeboro, N.H.) swingman T.J. Warren and Edisto (Cordova, S.C.) forward Brice Johnson.
"Now that I'm committed, I'm really gonna work hard to get Brice and T.J.," Purvis said. "That's my goal, and I feel like I've got a good shot with them. For now, I'm just happy to be part of the Wolfpack family."

Thoughts prior to his committing were that wherever he went, the NCAA would not be far behind. Lots of stink in this recruitment from his camp.
Will be interesting to watch this one.
He's trying to make the case that conference realignment makes the worst team in the ACC (NC State) more desirable than a proven, and current, national champion and a top five team next year?
I call BS!
In the end, I'm guessing Purvis just wanted to stay home. The ACC comment looks like a softball meant to draw out that kind of response. I'll be curious to see what happens with Purvis. Backed out of one commitment, all kinds of questions over his second commitment, I will be absolutely floored if he graduates from NC State in four years.
Also, important to note that he was not offered or recruited by UNC or Dook....if he wanted to stay close to home, it NCSU or NCCU (North Carolina Central) and the other high ranked players he "hopes" to recruit to NCSU have been offered by UNC and Dook....I'm guessing that State isn't going to be on their short lists.
From what I've heard current and former UNC players told Roy not to recruit him, they did not like his attitude during summer pick up games....said he would have not been a fit and would have ruined team chemistry. Apparently K got the same word from Kyrie Irving who has been playing pick up with the UNC guys all summer and fall.
