Steve Taylor mention.
The big question is, was Buzz there as well to protect his recruit? Seems Bullseye really likes Taylor.
Gotta love this:
QuoteTaylor Picks Up Where He Left Off
If we had to vote for the most impressive performer in the open gym, Steve Taylor would get our nod. Taylor repeatedly converted shots from beyond the 3-point arc but even more importantly showed the same degree of toughness and physical play that we saw from him during July at the EYBL Finals of the NIKE Peach Jam. As we have said before, there is no question that Taylor is hands down the top prospect in Illinois from the class of 2012. Needless to say, Marquette and head coach Buzz Williams are getting a true gem who we believe is going to see quality time at both forward spots.
Mac Irvin Fire recruits don't usually verbal early as they try to hype them up. Hat tip to Benford. I really liked Shaw, but Taylor's upside is much higher--and he is reaching for it. Why Loyola didn't hire Tony as HC is beyond me. Great that we gave him a promotion. He really has put in the time in AAU. He shored up Burton too. Back in Chi-town, baby!

No, towards the bottom of the link it list the schools in attendance.
Buzz and his assistants made Steve Taylor their first stop the morning the contact period started last Friday so I wouldn't be worried about whether they were there or not.
Marquette did have an assistant coach(s) present at the coordinated prep school workouts yesterday in New Hampshire where Deonte Burton (Brewster) and this weekends visitor Zach Auguste (New Hampton) were two of the participants.

Interesting that they weren't there despite the fact that Jaylon Tate was. Is he still on our radar for 2013?
I am hardly concerned with whether or not we were there to see Jaylon Tate.
Bottom line is I fully expect MU to a big time player with the last 2013 scholie. Evrything i have read has TJ Taylor as playing the point going forward. He will be a 3rd year sophomore with a year of running the PG in JUco when he steps on campus next year. Wilson will have a year in the system and Junior will be a Senior :). So we have 3 PGs for 2013.
The next year which would be Tate or anyother 2013 recruits Freshman year we will still have Taylor and Wilson. Both were extremely highly recruited and the need may or not be there. If I am a big time PG do I want to go have to compete against an Oklahoma transfer that was a 94 by ESPN that is a 4th year Junior or against a kid that is a Junior that chose MU over georgia Tech, Notre Dame and Stanford?
May not be in the cards for Buzz to go get that Elite PG in that class.
2014 probably, whereby a Top 50 type PG recruit would have to not start for no more than 1 year before being the man for 3 years.
OK thanks. I keep hearing from people here that we should look for a point in 2013, but I think you are right about Wilson and Taylor. With a switchable already secured in Burton, a big might be best depending on what happens with the last scholarship in 2012.
Lots to like about Taylor. Best thing about him, though, is his skill set really fits in well with how Marquette plays. A versatile player who can hurt opponents in a variety of ways.
Tedbaxter,
This thread made my morning at work. Thank you.

I was surprised by Loyola not to hire Benford as well, but there are probably two issues at play: 1. With his new title and raise he may have had to take a pay cut to be the head coach at Loyola, 2. They probably knew with any ounce of success he'd be off to bigger and better things with his Rolodex/Wizard/Palm/Smartphone.
Thought Taylor was 6'8"+. Why does this report list him at 6'7"?
30 / Steve Taylor / 6-8.5 / 208 / 6-11 / Chicago, IL / 2012 /
24 / JP Tokoto / 6-6.5 / 185 / 6-9 / Mencryonee Falls, WI / 2012 /
this was from the lebron James Skill academy this summer. These were in shoes. So he would be about 6-7 barefoot. Shoes add between 1 1/4 and 1 1/2 inch's.
Somewhat related, looks like Buzz is on Mac Irving's good side by visiting him in the hospital. Smart move.
QuoteThe stream of visitors has been constant and star-studded, including dozens of college basketball coaches and NBA players, from Marquette coach Buzz Williams to Dallas Mavericks star Shawn Marion.
