I know some people on here are way more into this subject matter than I am so I have a question for those in the know. I am sick of Time Warner and am looking to get rid of them. I have a Roku box already that streams my Netflix and could stream Hulu Plus if that is the route I decide to take.
Couple questions:
1. Does anyone know of a cheap internet alternative if I get rid of Time Warner cable and internet?
2. Is there a way/does anyone know of a way to stream ESPN through a Roku for the likes of Monday Night Football and college basketball games? Or would I have to watch ESPN3 on my laptop?
3. Is AT&T any better than Time Warner?

I can't comment on Time Warner, but I've been very happy with ATT Uverse for at least a couple of years now. It was comparably priced to our prior provider, has a good line-up, has good equipment, works well, and the rare occasions I've had to deal with them, they've been pretty good.

If you have an Xbox 360, ESPN3 is available through Xbox Live. But ESPN3 doesn't have the clearance to carry Monday Night Football, and probably never will.

Also, ATT U-Verse includes access to ESPN3 through Xbox, AppleTV and I would imagine, Roku.

This is not entirely true. ESPN is only available through Xbox Live if your ISP supports it. TWC's Roadrunner won't pay ESPN what they're asking, so subscribers don't get access.
I, personally, wouldn't bother paying for Hulu Plus. Only a portion of the content providers that distribute their shows/movies through Hulu have negotiated full distribution rights. That means that for many of the shows you try to watch through your Roku or Xbox360 you'll get a popup saying "this show is only available on your computer" which stinks.
I'd look into PlayOn or TVersity. There are also a number of other sites that stream sports out there. If you remind me I'll post a few when I get home. They're not reliable, though. ICE (http://www.ice.gov/) keeps seizing the decent ones, which makes it a PITA to watch brewers games :(

No, they added it last year, but you have to have a dippy login account with the TWC website for it to work.
Besides, he was talking about ditching RoadRunner anyway. :D

Just to clarify:
1. The ESPN app on the Xbox360 doesn't support the TWC login stuff yet
2. If you stick with Road Runner and cancel your cable package TWC won't give you a login. It's for cable customers only:(

Should have just gone with AppleTV 2 and jail broken it. There is an app called Icefilms you can put on it or just you could just torrent all the tv you need and stream it off your cpu.
I have also heard that TWC is experimenting with ala carte bundles in some markets instead of tiers - ie, you could just buy the ESPN family of networks and nothing else. I know for me I would pay $25 a mo. just for ESPN's, TW Sports & FSN WI. They were thinking the MKE market might be within a year they may try this.
