Right now, I'd want Mbargorba.

I want the one who wants to be at Marquette.  I know that's the safe answer, but it is really the one that coaches probably talk about daily.  If they have to continue to sell Marquette hard to a recruit, then it's probably not in the cards.

From watching video, I see 3 different players.  Auguste is probably the most advanced right now with his combination of skills and athletic ability and can play the 4.  Nolan is not as advanced offensively, but has good mobility and potential as he matures physically and he is a Milwaukee kid.  Mbargorba is still learning the game and it may take him a little longer to impact the college game, so I'm a little in the dark on him.

So, it comes down to the one who wants to be at Marquette.

Why?  He is much more highly ranked than Mbao ever was.  He's bigger and much more fluid.

I'd take any of them, but it would be kind of cool to get another Milwaukee kid.

Why? Because it's easier to make broad assumptions based on height and body type.

From the espn descriptions of the 3 players,  Nolan sounds to have the highest ceiling.  Any one of them would be a big time "get."  I definitely like the idea of landing all of the elite talent from Milwaukee.

I feel like you are off your nut.

The only thing they share in common is their height, the color of their skin, and they have African last names.

Mbao's biggest issue was his attitude. Everything I've read about Nolan suggests that he won't have those problems.

No...one is rated higher.  That is objective.  "More fluid" is pretty obvious to anyone who has seen both play.

Nothing personal, but that's a really ignorant comment. Honestly, I thought the same at first, but the more I read about this kid, the more it's evident that he's a hard-working high-major player. I'll be the first to admit he's a project, but no more so than Nolan. He's got size and strength on Nolan right now. And while Nolan is a solid athlete with good quickness, he looks a lot more like a 4 to me than a 5. Of the three, Mbargorba is the only one that definitively looks like a center, and he'd be perfectly positioned to take over for Otule.

Right now, I think Auguste is the best of the three. I really like his skillset, but I think if we get any of these guys, they'll be allowed a year or two to develop before they need to contribute. With that in mind, I want the guy that will be the best in 2014, and I think that's Mbargorba. Just my opinion, but comparing him to Mbao is about as logical as comparing me to Allen Iverson because we're both 5'11" and our first names are pronounced the same.

I was agreeing with you and mocking the previous poster's lack of objectivity.

You and I need to get on the same page with some of my sarcasm.

Better Auguste video. Highlights were cropped and spliced.

Auguste reminds me a lot of Scott Merritt, in a good way.

I don't think it's important to remember we need a solid shot blocker at the 5 spot as well.  The way Buzz has his guys defend, they are going to get beat off the dribble.  You could see the difference in the way teams could get to the rim this year as Gardner would replace Otule, and you could also see Buzz play Gardner when opposing teams would give a blow to one of their best attacking guards/sm. forwards.  As much as we want to rate a 5 based off of his ability to score, his ability and nack of rebounding and shot blocking/altering is probably going to be most important to the team.

I want our first Milwaukee area big since R Jax and Merritt.  Yeah, it's been that long.

I saw better defense in the pro am. Hard to judge Blaise, because it was just a practice video. Nolan appears to be the quickest. However his highlight video was half the length of of Auguste. I think we need Blaise and one of Nolan or Auguste. Oversign by one.

Marquette won't be oversigning this fall and I will guarantee that.

Has there been an MKE big since RJax and Merritt that we missed out on?

I was wondering the same thing. I can't think of any Milwaukee bigs we would have wanted since them.

I believe you make a very important and valid point.  I know I just wrote a whole piece on how getting Burton would be so much bigger than grabbing a 7-footer.  Burton could be a real game-changer.  We are going to get a lot more firepower from Burton and the other switchables than we would getting a 7-footer just to say we did.  However, not that we have Burton I would tend slightly toward getting Mbargorba to help defend the rim.  I still have nightmares of the Three Amigos trying to deny drives knowing that if they got to the paint there was noone to define the rim - and as Dr. Blackheart pointed out I did also calculate that big men overall give you more on defense to the degree we can measure.

However, I don't believe it is crucial and would love to have any of the three.  When one of our guards gets beat now, we will usually have several 6-7 or so athletic guys that can contest to some degree.  So give me Mbargorba if we have the choice, but I will celebrate any of them.  Mbargorba has 15 other offers, so if either of the other two commit earlier, I'd take them in a heartbeat.
