Title: Mbargorba, Lee, or Auguste...
Post by: Clam Crowder on August 24, 2011, 10:11:22 AM
With Dunn and Cleare off the Board I think we absolutely need to go for Mbargorba, or Auguste. The loss of Crowder will leave us with a huge rebounding hole. Steve Taylor needs to bulk up to fill that role. Auguste is 30 pounds heavier and with a little more bulk would fill the role perfectly for us. I say Auguste, Mbargorba and then Lee as the order for who we should go after the hardest now.

Sounds like Buzz is pushing really hard for Mbargorba, he'd probably be my pick right now. Has really moved his stock up in the past few weeks and would be nicely placed to take over for Otule. I'd put Auguste second, he'll be tough as he's reportedly a ND lean, with Lee third. Can't see any reason to oversign anymore.

Is that behind the scenes pushing or something published? Haven't seen many updates on him out there.

Anyone that has great potential and is ranked in the top 100 could be outstanding in college. It doesn't matter if you are ranked #9, or number #99. So much of what a player accomplishes in college comes down to being in the right system for their talents, how they adapt to the college game and college life, their work ethic, and their mental toughness. Some of these players are just beginning to scratch the surface with their talent, and they could become superstars.

If we get any of the three players mentioned, I would be thrilled. Especially when you add them to Taylor and Ferguson. Relax! Buzz is working hard to land the best players for the program as possible. We just came off a Sweet 16 appearance.

The program is in good hands and in good shape!

GO MU!

I like Auguste, but my impression is that he is a power forward. Does that present a problem with Taylor who cited that he felt he would get significant playing time at MU right away. Taylor is a forward and we have Wilson and Anderson. Adding Auguste to that could impact Taylor's playing time. I rather get Mbargorba, because he does not effect any other recruits playing time and should not cause them to reconsider.

I would LOVE Mbargorba - even more than Cleare. I want that 7 footer to anchor the defense more than that power forward fact up type of player. Especially since we got Taylor coming and we usually score plenty.

Fixed - both T J and Steve!

I agree with your comments.  Any one of the 3 would be fine by me.

I'd prefer Mbargorba or Auguste, don't care which.  I don't see the point in adding another point, but that's just me.

How is that to be known if Buzz plays everything so close to the vest?

We're always pushing hard for the next name, until that name announces elsewhere.

Just say NO to projects (Mbao-bargorba).

Why?  Personally, I'm pretty happy that we have O'Tule and Gardner on this team.  Maybe that's just me though.

I would have agreed until he started pushing his way into the top-100 rankings. He's not a pure project like Mbao.

I want to know where it's been indicated that Buzz has been "pushing real hard" for Mbargorba.  Has there been any mention anywhere other than a twitter message that said Marquette offered?

I've already bulked up the necessary 30 lbs. (lost a little vertical jump in so doing), AND I have D-! eligibility left.  But as far as I can tell, though, Buzz hasn't been pushing hard to sign me.

Outside of the fact that they are both tall Africans, I don't think they have much in common.

You probably won't find it in quotes anywhere.  That being said, I'm sure that Buzz isn't just resting on his laurels.

You won't find it in quotes anywhere because he can't comment on it.  However, when you hear that he has "received an offer from Marquette," chances are it is because he is a plan B when Buzz figured out that plan A (Cleare) wasn't going to pan out.  Same with Lee.

Buzz has 1 scholarship available, if he does not fill it, no big deal.  Buzz is all over the place trying to recruit.  He probably
signs 1 out of 10 kids he is after.  Crean targeted very few kids and when he lost, the spring signings were pretty bad.  You
have to have thick skin to recruit, many factors involved.  MU fans should be happy the man busts his ass.  MU fans remember
the late 80's and 90's, bad.  I believe the 11 man roster is fine this year, all these kids can play.  No different the following year, and the
walk-on, Jake Thomas, had high marks this summer.  It is easier to recruit when there is a spot vacant like Crowder leaving, Taylor
stepping in.  So 2012 really has 13 kids available.  The 14th has to be really special or a project.

There actually was a quote from Jerry Meyer saying that Buzz was aggressively pursuing him.

I bet if you posted a YouTube video stating that you were a beast that would all change...

I think the one thing I'd definitely note now when looking at the title is "Not Lee". Even if all the charges are dropped, we just don't need that type of negative PR on campus right now. Especially as it seems we haven't even offered him yet.

Still hoping for Mbargorba.
