For just Wisconsin schools that made the 650 - here
http://www.forbes.com/top-colleges/list/#p_1_s_arank_WI
How they came up with the list - from the source itself - "quality of teaching, great career prospects, graduation rates and low levels of debt. Unlike other lists, we pointedly ignore ephemeral measures such as school "reputation" and ill-conceived metrics that reward wasteful spending. We try and evaluate the college purchase as a consumer would: Is it worth spending as much as a quarter of a million dollars for this degree? The rankings are prepared exclusively for Forbes by the Center for College Affordability and Productivity, a Washington, D.C. think tank founded by Ohio University economist Richard Vedder."
Marquette is whiter than Wisconsin.
Guess we can all stop that, honky-white-farm-boy-school crap soon, huh?
That ranking certainly doesn't pass the sniff test.

I don't see how they can use those criteria, then come up with Lawrence, St. Norbert and Beloit as the top colleges in Wisconsin. If anything, Lawrence and Beloit have reputations that exceed their reality.

Marquette is also blacker than Wisconsin.

The only way to graduate from Lawrence with a low level of debt is if your parents are million(billion?)aires.
I would just love to see Madison graduates heads explode when seeing this.
UW-Madison - amazing grad programs, mediocre undergrad programs, and so many students in HS don't understand this.

Fixed that for you
Cheddar,
Do you really want to get into a pissing match with Badgers debating which school is academically better?
So they are basing UW's value on out-of-state tuition?
Couldn't believe the tuition at UWMadison, then I clicked on the link:
# Total Annual Costc: $36,508
# In-State Tuitionc: $8,983
# Out-of-State Tuition: $24,233
Helluva deal for in-state.
For Madison they link John Menard as a notable alumnus...but he went to UW-Eau Claire.

Considering I'm not an alumni of either MU or UW-Madison, doesn't really bother me
And to the person who tried to fix the high school students being in love with Madison, no I knew what I was saying. I am a high school teacher - the way Juniors/Seniors in high school see Madison here in this state is unreal. They worship the place - don't get me wrong, On a Saturday in the Fall, it is tough to top, and Mifflin Street Block Party is fantastic (I find Halloween there way overrated, just me) - but like if students can't get into Madison, they don't want to go to school is some of their feelings... it's scary.

Minnesota kids get in state tuition and vice versa thanks to reciprocity. I don't know if Wisc. has the same deal with any other states.
Wisconsin only has in-state reciprocity with Minnesota. Except UW-Platteville can charge in-state to some students from neighboring counties in Illinois and Iowa.
Minnesota has reciprocity agreements with Wisconsin, North Dakota, and South Dakota. It also has an agreement with the Canadian province of Manitoba.

Guy I work with (in Iowa, ugh) has a son getting in state tuition at St. Cloud state. Said something about if you get a certain GPA amount or class ranking, MN has some kind of agreement with IA.

There's no statewide reciprocal agreement between Minnesota and Iowa. Several Minnesota colleges charge resident tuition rates to students from any state, including Iowa. Students should apply directly to the college they choose to attend.
Probably certain schools and certain GPA's/rankings.

heh
I refuse to believe that St. Norberts or Lawrence is at all better than MU
Have had kids at both schools and hate to say it but bang for the buck UW wins. My son hated every second there but a great bargain for quality education. My advice to all younger Warrior fans...if you want your child to attend MU start saving NOW.
Wish I had sent my kids to public grade school and high school and saved the dough for MU. Just my two cents on the topic. FYI--my son spent 1 1/2 years at MU and finished at UW and he felt UW was far better academically. That said he still hated the place.
goose,
the last two years at any college are harder academically.

I wouldn't say "harder," I would say more rewarding. You are concentrating in your major, something you should have interest in, and you are dealing more one-on-one with your professors. Marquette is just as good academically at the undergraduate level. UW is one of the elite graduate schools in the country, and in some subjects, the world.
