Title: Blue and DWil were no shows on the last day of the Pro-Am?
Post by: GGGG on August 09, 2011, 09:48:07 PM
But Blue showed up later with a puppy.  I am not kidding.  Good lord.

Does anyone know why Wilson was a no show?

I think these games are meant to be fun for the player's and a chance for people to play against other college player's and Pro's.  With the lockout it would be hard for NBA or potential NBA player's to play, Hopefully that will be fixed by next year.  Also I hope IWB puts more player's from the same schools on teams so they have more chemistry.  Nothing wrong with putting 3-4 MU player's on the 3 teams and do the same with other schools.  IMO.  I think it would make for better BBALL and better attendance both from player's and from Fans.

It's an NCAA violation to have more than 2 players from one school on the same team ;)

Freshman, and transfer's don't count in the 2. only Soph, JR and SR's. So this year Juan and DWill and Jake thomas could have played with JJ, Vander, J wilson, JC, CO and DG, You could have made teams of 3.

4. Allow entire teams to play together in summer league. As it stands now, players who have played together the previous season cannot play on the same summer league team. In fact, the only players who can play together in an NCAA-sanctioned summer league are incoming recruits, and they can team with at most one returning player

ESPN has the rule wrong,  Vander and J Jones, and JR and Chris played together.  Its only 2 of last years player's can play together.  Cincy had something like 9 player's play on one team, 2 Transfer's, 5 recruits, and 2 returning player's in a cincy pro am.  That is why I know what the rule is, I asked IWB.

His puppy's name is Veezy, and it is adorable.

I agree - seems like Vander might be feeling a need for some unconditional love.  Really hope he has a great season/gets the support he seems to need/confidence back.  If it takes getting a puppy, so be it - even if a little comical!

Man, I'd drop that mutt for a smokin' hot broad in a minute. Chick would do a lot more to restore one's confidence and self-esteem than any animal. To say nothin' of the warm and fuzzies. F*ckin' probably will disagree since he has experience with animals.

Several things that are absolutely false in there. How ridiculous to rant and rave about what's wrong with the NCAA and then be so wrong on your understanding of reality.  The scary thing with the web is that people are quick to read and assume it's correct... especially when written by 'that guy Gottleib that I saw on TV.. plus it was on the ESPN site, so it must be legit'.

Maybe Vander won the puppy in a street fight.

Care to enlighten those who are not familiar with the rules as to what was wrong?

I think IWB errs on the side of caution. 2 is clearly acceptable. That Cincy team just seems like it's against the spirit of the NCAA rule, even if it isn't a violation. I'm fine with seeing them split up, it makes it more interesting because I have an interest in more games.

And obviously if they were all on the same team - and being the Preseason #13 team in the country, only 12 other teams in the whole country would be able to beat them

He said he only puts 2 on a team to try and make competitive balance.  The rule is only 2 of your returning player's can play together.  New recruits and Transfer's do not count.  So the 2 rule would not have counted for Juan, DW, and Thomas.  You could have put three on a team if you wanted to.
