I despise Duke, and don't like Coach K too much either. I am still pretty surprised to see him mentioned at all for a recruiting violation, even though it seems pretty minor.

Don't think the NCAA would deem it minor. Nab that (blue) devil.....!

Isn't this recruit an MU target?

He was, but we haven't been linked to Poythress in awhile. I was really hoping for him, but it looks like he's moved on from us.

It seems to me that the biggest thing the NCAA worries about is institutional control. The fact that Duke University is almost immediately looking into it is all the NCAA realy cares about. it is almost impossible not to break a rule. Immediately report it, take your light slap on the hand and move on. Hide it, especially if you continue to do it, that is when you get in trouble.

Duke is treating this as a major violation, with the suggested sanction of it being assigned to the West regional for the next three (3) years. That'll hurt. lol

Institutions routinely report minor violations. It happens all of the time. UW had to report one on their football team last month because one of their players answered a reporters question about an unsigned transfer.

This is suprising. However, nothing will come of it becasue K is too smart to lie to the NCAA. Also, He's too valuable to them. What I don't get, however, is how MU can be playing Duke, and I see 4 commercials featuring coach K. That is a monsterous recruiting advantage that the NCAA will never do anything about.
