MU alumni newsletter says: Brad Galli, Comm '11 has accepted a sports reporter position with ABC affiliate WXYZ-TV in Detroit. Galli, a Detroit native, has had work featured on ESPN and Palestra.net and was the sports director of Marquette's student-run MUTV for the past two years.
Not a surprise at all. Starting his career at the ABC TV station in Detroit is a huge accomplishment! I'm sure he'll be a success and a star in no time. Outstanding young man and a real credit to MU.
He's a Brother Rice grad from Detroit if I remember correctly.
I'm happy for Brad he did a great job at MU. That just goes to show you if you put your mind to something and work very hard you can overcome any obstacle, and believe me, going to Brother Rice is a huge obstacle.
Here's a clip of his first news story:

Thats a good point, especially coming from a hilbilly mountain man from Denver
hope to keep seeing brad's stuff, he would be lead anchor if he took a job in Wyoming ;D
Not surprised... Galli was top notch at MU and those ESPNU appearances made it clear that he was ready for prime time.
Good work, Brad.
I think he also sells sports cards on eBay, right?

This from a guy who spells fan-"phan". No, 8 years of fine Jesuit education.
hill-billy-mountain-man
Good luck to him. The industry sucks for everyone who isn't near the top.

Thats why I chose not to go into journalism at MU. Honestly though, good for him for going after it. I hope he does well

Sweet elitist bullshit. Sounds like MU made quite the impression on you.
Hope life treats you well with that attitude of looking down at those that went to public school.
The guy who can't quote on a message board correctly is making fun of the education of "public school kids."
Heh...

LOOKS LIKE SOMEONE HAD POOR PARENTS!!
I went to public school and I'm proud of it. At least I didn't go to an all-dudes school.

You may call it thinking outside the box, but the rest of are going to call it failed execution of unoriginal pun and ghetto phonetics.

Nah, 16 years of private Catholic education, including 4 at an all-dudes school. But now a very proud to work within the Boston Public schools.
I am not from Detroit or the state of Michigan. I know how you boys like to stick together on here but I was making a joke which apparently the bro hammer from Denver and a few other people couldn't understand. ( maybe its the public school) if anything i was trying to make a joke about your respect for Br. Rice, and how some guy from Denever reps it. So for everyone who was about to go off about how i am a elitist or whatever save it.

Good one. Isn't pointing that out looking down on him? Sorry we all can'e be nerds.
Nerds <> using a message board correctly.
But whatever....
I wonder what Brad Galli thinks about all this
I'm sure he doesn't approve of people trying to put him or his supporters down because they are upset with their own mundane lives. Thats at least my opinion
"Mundane" doesn't even begin to describe what an entry level television sports reporter does. It's a tough industry.
Is it mundane or tough. If a job is mundane, it would be repetitive and boring. A tough job is one that usually challenges an individual. You're kind of going in two seperate directions. I guess some people don't know how to quote on a website correctly, and others don't know how to express their thoughts.
Sorry I started all this, we really need the season to start soon. As I said to begin with, I think Brad did a great job at MU and I think he will do great at WXYZ. The rest was just a little fun teasing from someone who went to a rival high school. Good luck Brad.
That's fair enough. I agree, good luck Brad

I've never known an entry-level position that wasn't a bit mundane. It doesn't mean that you're not willing to put forth the time and effort to get to exactly where you want your career to be, though :)
Another great report by Brad. I'd wish him luck, but his hard work is making his own luck!
Thank you for the supportive comments and kind notes.
I'm really looking forward to my new role with WXYZ. I would NOT be anywhere near where I am today without the fine people at Marquette who opened their hearts to me.
I could go on for days talking about Buzz Williams and the role he played in my development in college, but I won't dive into that too much here. I will say how fortunate I am to have worked and to have built such a strong relationship with him. I got to do things my peers across the country couldn't have imagined doing. Williams, the Marquette Athletics staff, and my college student-athlete peers were tremendous each day, each interview, and with each interaction. They didn't have to be. But they helped enhance my belief in how to treat people every moment of the day.
Thanks for your backing over the years. As a member of the "media," I always kept in mind that I was serving you all the past four years. Your critiques, feedback, and reception helped drive me. I look forward to remaining in this MU community, and will certainly be back for games all season long (for years to come).
Heck, when Jimmy, Lazar, (hopefully) Steve, Wes, and Dwyane come to town, maybe I can have some fun and shoot a little MU-based interview for you all!
I'll be posting my work on WXYZ.com primarily, with my @BradGalli Twitter account and BradGalli.com website also hosting my work.
I'm glad to be home in Detroit, but I also feel very blessed to now know I can always call Marquette home too.
This my friends, is what it means to be a Warrior forever.
Keep in touch Brad - best of luck with your career!
