Title: single malt scotch induced musing....and adrift in MU land
Post by: Da 'Lanche on July 13, 2011, 09:13:18 PM
I have not posted since the proliferation of news, innuendos, inferences, emotions, confusion, mistruths, fears and failure of the current situations at MU.   I love the university from which I received my undergrad degree (MU).  I have seen tremendous scandal from the university in which I received my graduate degree (Arizona State).   I have followed our basketball program intensely since my freshman year (1984) and have never been on such a rollercoaster since the time TC left and the present situation of celebrating a sweet 16 birth....admitting I was wrong in underestimating the Buzz hire....and now questioning the entire ethics and future of the program because of the constant negative stream of quasi-information about the program.

So...what is one to believe?  My love for the university and how it has helped my successful growth in my professional and personal life combined with my passion for the program probably skews my objectivity.   The inanity and negative  bias of MU blogs like the Js-online and the mind battles on historically informative sites like MUscoop which paint extreme pictures  f#ck with one's head about what is really significant or not in terms of the current state of affairs.   I am adrift in a sea of uncertainty about what is real...what is not...what is typical for college aged athletes....what if anything should be concerning about Buzz and the moral fiber of the program.  If one watches the "life lessons" messages of our Coach and learns the story of our players one would come away with a feeling of confidence in the stewardship of young mens' lives in our basketball program.  If one listens to the whispers of the internet...one feels a bit squeemish.   Is there are truth in there somewhere, a horrendous slander against our program or a blurry line?

Help.

P.S....I just watched the second half of our win over Syracuse to get to the sweet sixteen....it was not nearly as enjoyable for some reason.

Sounds like the name of the sea in which you are adrift may be named "Macallan", or "Glenlivet". lol

The bible is the scotch whiskey directory...http://www.amazon.com/Scotch-Whisky-Directory-Phillip-Hills/dp/1840187506

...but as a 35 year long cigar smoker...I dont subscribe to brand slavery...these are simply pleasures..to be enjoyed.

Regarding the OP's observation: Sometimes I think we were better off without the internet when we had almost no idea what was going on. And people who didn't know anything were without a means of putting out all sorts of B.S. for all the world to read.
