who do we have a shot at? Mcgary? Cleare?
Dunn, Taylor, Nolan, McGary (sp?)
http://marquette.scout.com/a.z?s=415&p=9&c=4&cfg=bb&yr=2012
Here's the Scout list.
Given how much McGary's blown up in recent months, I think that ship has sailed.
At guard, my guess is Kris Dunn is our top target. We're in on numerous bigs, McGary would have to be most people's favorite, but I'm not sure how serious he is with us now that he's gone from borderline top-100 to surefire top-10. He's said in the past that Texas is his dream school and they have offered. Cleare, Goodwin, Poythress, Taylor, Ibeh, Bail, and Nolan are all guys we'll probably be targeting.
I expect some new names to appear.
Buzz was in Duncanville, Texas watching the GASO tournament yesterday and Scott Monarch is in Louisiana at a tournament today with Bail on one of the teams participating. Nike Peach Jam starts tomorrow among others as the first part of the July period closes out later this week. Then the coaches can recharge before going out the last week of the month.
I was right about York and I still dont see us ever getting one of these big time guys

Scout has York at #64 and rivals has him at #47. York is good, but not a "big-time" guy. MU has recruited guys in that range.

Your optimism is staggering, and your contribution insightful.
My guess is you can forget about McGary, Goodwin and Poythress.
Buzz will sign good players. Obviously he will be focused on Dunn and Taylor among others.

Your teal is obvious.
I don't think we have a shot at cleare. Is steve taylor good? What happen to prince ibeh?
Did you look at the scout link?
The truth as is often the case, is in the middle.
Gabe York will be a superstar at AZ. Anyone suggesting otherwise has deep sour grapes envy.
With that said, Marquette can and has been successful with other recruits. And, they will continue to be so.
Steve Taylor is a very high level stretch 4 player with lots of interest from high major teams including of course, high interest from Marquette...to answer that one above.
AZ came in late and Sean Miller is very, very good. Tip cap, move on to the next one. That seems to be so hard for some people to do.
We're all disappointed but you can't stop trying. If we hit on 1 in 20, consider it a success. You just never know when a kid, his parents, his coach, or mentor says MU is the perfect fit. When MU competes for scholars, how many do we take away from the Ivy League schools? Occasionally we do.
Any school that is not a so-called basketball power has to work his ass off to get players. Everybody wants a Top 100 player,
so you have to go the extra mile. York stated that Buzz did a great job, unfortunately a school close to him, wanted him. Look
at where the Pac-10 conference is held at, in Anaheim. Throw in games at UCLA and USC, and his family gets to see him play in
person, much less TV has the PAC 10 game of the week on. Buzz and his assistant coaches have to build a relationships with the
players peers and family long before there junior year. More importantly, he has to figure out if the kid really wants to come to MU
or is waiting for the next best offer, which York did. As Buzz stated, you have to recruit everyday. Last year he lost most of the
early kids, this year it looks better, as he has 2 in the fold, just really needs 1 more big, to take Jaes place.

Based on what? A few you tube videos? Guy looks good but calling him a superstar before he steps on a college basketball court is a bit of a stretch.

+1. Confidently calling a high school player (hovering around #50 in the rankings) a future superstar at a big-time D-I program is a little silly. You might know something we don't about the kid, but even so, nothing is guaranteed--especially a prediction as lofty as yours.
I just hope we hear from someone soon. I'd love to see Dunn verbal. His clear interest in Marquette is great, but I also love how he is Andre Drummond's AAU point guard. If Dunn committed, some of those top flight bigs might look at what Dunn did for the 2012 #1-ranked recruit and think that he'd be a good guy to line up next to for a few years.
How do you know dunn is really interested in us?
I would love to see Buzz land AJ Hammons...6'10" 260lbs and a foot-in-the-door at Oak Hill Academy...don't know his level of interest in MU, but he's the guy I'd like to see in an MU uniform for a number of reasons...
Can't wait to hear reports on who the staff is heavily involved with...

This was from a Dave Telep article, a scouting reporter for ESPN:
Quote from: Dave TelepGetting the job Dunn
Kris Dunn (New London, Conn./New London) had a big weekend for the Connecticut Basketball Club at the Real Deal In The Rock. Rated as a mid-major prospect by ESPN during his junior season, the point guard flipped the switch on his game and his recruitment is about to take off full blast.
"He's like Robin for me," said AAU teammate Andre Drummond (Middletown, Conn./St. Thomas More). Drummond, Batman in this situation, saw first hand how his running mate can help as an assist man and scorer from the lead guard role.
Entering the weekend, Providence and Rhode Island and all the A-10 except for Xavier had offered Dunn. Virginia, UConn and Pittsburgh want to see more out of him. I asked Dunn where he'd like to go to school and he said Marquette. The Golden Eagles could be his golden ticket to the Big East. Surely Buzz Williams will like this guy and if Dunn is true to his word, Marquette has a good chance of being a major player in his recruitment.
Man, it would be nice if we could wrap up Dunn this summer. Seems almost a perfect replacement for Junior in a couple of years.
First come, first serve.
what about anthony bennett. kid looks likes a beast. it says were involved

Not sure... maybe he is leaning toward going to yet another high school.
