I think he switched pivot feet.
don't know about that, but the Hoyas had a three-point play two minutes earlier on which the guy clearly turned the ball over.
He was also hacked. I think they swallowed their whistles.
I don't know--how is that different from the step and hop we see all the time?
Oh well, they could have called about 5 fouls on Vanderbilt there.
Good luck to Georgetown the rest of the way. Make the Big East proud.

In the step-hop, you don't commit to a pivot foot.
Green pivoted to his right, picked up his left foot.
Planted his left foot and picked up his right foot.
Travel.
Yes. ;)

Thanks--I'll defer to your judgment. On the other hand, I'm glad GT won.

What if the refs considered him to lose control of the ball when he fumbled it while changing pivots?
I don't think he did, but boy is he a good player. I like him more very time I see him. I almost didn't mind him whipping our asses in that game as I think it was the only time all season that I think we were just out classed. We never really had a chance in that game.
BTW, They did not turn the ball over on that earlier play, his (was it Sapp?) hand was clearly above the ball at all times.
When he "changed" pivot feet, that was not a travel. You are allowed to take a step like that and it is legal. Just as long as it is a shooting or passing motion and it is fluid. If he would have put his right foot back down ater taking the step, that would have been a travel. The Marquette women's coaches use to teach that move to Abbie Willenborg and she burned people with that. It is like shooting a hook shot or a layup.
However, when he slightly picked up his right foot and put it back down, that was a travel. People think he also got pushed at that point.
And I'm sure the ref (in clear sight behind Green on the replay), was watching for contact on the upcoming shot.
It's just a magical year for the Hoyas, the last BE team dancing.
Just glad they didn't burn my brackets!
It sure looked like he travelled and I don't think Billy Packard(sp?) noticed. The studio was all over it and Billy said no the next day. I can't stand the guy even if he has helped MU fundraise. I dread having to listen to him in the final every year.
ESPN discusses it a bit here

He walked...twice actually.
And yes, there was the no call on the carry though same call on Vandy previously....Skuchas' head scratching calls on Hibbert ....because he must have breathed near him....I am all for the Big East doing well...but people will spin things the way they want...or allow themelves to be objective.
Big Sky,
I'm starting to think that you don't know basketball. I even gave you the NCAA rule that shows you that it was not a travel.
Art. 4. After coming to a stop and establishing the pivot foot:
a. The pivot foot may be lifted, but not returned to the playing court,
before the ball is released on a pass or try for goal;
Billy Packer showed in the replay during the Georgetown UNC game how it was not a travel. Jay Bilas writes in ESPN insider how it was not a travel. Green established his pivot foot, which was his right. He slightly lifted it, which could have been called a travel, but it is hard to see that he lifted it. Plus, people feel that he got pushed.
Then, he reversed pivoted, took a step with his left foot, and lifted his right foot which was his pivot foot. He shot the ball before the right foot hit the ground again. That is perfectly legal.
But wasn't his left foot established as his initial pivot foot?

When he lost the ball and picked it up again, that is when you establish the pivot foot. It doesn't carry over from before you lose the ball.

I am actually starting to think you are a troll. Your rule is not applicable to the player's sctions. Not sure how else I can explain it to you. Should I use caps?
Because Billy Packer and Jay Bilas said something should I believe it as true? I didn't post the long list of others who felt the same way I did(Lavin, Majerus etc) because I didn't think it was necessary.
I'm a troll? Sure. Anyway, I described in detail what I thought happened. The video that I posted shows exactly what I described. Why don't you do the same thing? I posted a rule that clearly states what happened is legal. I have a DVD of Pete Newell, one of the best big men coaches ever who teaches the move that Jeff Green did. I have watched the Marquette Women's coaches teach that move.
So, friend, why don't you stop your whining and state your case. Describe what you think happened instead of just saying he travelled twice.
You don't even have your references straight...Billy Packer said Green did not even lift his pivot foot at all....so you may wantto mention someone else's name as a reference. Prior to that travel, when he caught the ball, he shuffled both feet at the same time, thus the 2nd travel.
And as I said two different non-carry calls including a huge one with under 2 minutes left....which can't be overlooked because a big one was called v Vanderbilt on the break causing 4 point swing.
And the fouls on Skuchas were not correct either.
These ...i.e. when someone catches the ball and moves both of their feet and the others are not my opinion they occurred.
I don't get to change the outcome of the game.
I posted my opinion on the topic.
I did not post that I didn't think you knew the game of basketball. I did not post saying this or that commentator agreed with me(even though the one you chose didn't come close to agreeing with you)...I merely posted what I thought.
Then you came and posted you didn't think i knew the game of basketball out of left field. Therefore you received the follow up commentary that you have reached troll status for that kind of post.
Then you try to bait with typical troll tactics with words like whining...etc....it is the sad state of message boards.
You are talking about this first travel. I have already said that could be called a travel. However, some feel he got pushed. What I am saying is that the second one was not a travel. Billy Packer certainly agrees with me, because that is what he referenced.
After Green caught the ball that he lost, he establishes his right foot as a pivot foot. He reversed pivoted, took a step with his left foot, picked up his right foot and shot it before he put it down. That is not a travel. Billy Packer called that move a Mikan, which is exactly what it was. That involves picking up the pivot foot.
As for a troll comment, you must not have been around these boards for a while. If I am a troll, then why does it say author next to my name? RockyWarrior has authorized my to write articles on this site. Do you think he would do that for a troll?
I just want people to understand the rules.

Well done.
I swear when I saw it in real time, it looked like a travel.
Oh well...GO FLORIDA!!!

Indeed, Crisco is no troll. I don't endorse everything he says (I don't do that for anyone...), but he knows much more about hoops than I.
Now Crisco, as for articles, I'm not sure we can really call you an Author until you actually write one :D
Ha. True. I have had less time than I thought. Maybe some summer articles. Sorry about that.

Well then don't act like a troll.
If you want to come on a board and begin your discussion with I don't think you know basketball.
Then follow it up with a post that says quit whining when in fact I did nothing of the sort....those sort of attacks and baiting games....imo are what is wrong with message boards.
I really don't care what you did in the past or posted previously.
Green walked. He got away with it and the game is over. He also was absolutely not fouled on the play. Watch a tape of the game...watch a replay...watch you tube...to those that say he was fouled that is pretty funny to me.
I really don't care wither way.
People can have opinions or be correct about something without having to read comments like yours. Perhaps you were abused as a child, don't care. If someone has an opinion that you do not like, it is not necessary to say they do not know the game or call them a whiner. And that is exactly what you just did.
For the record, I said "I'm starting to think that you don't know basketball." Also, I have agreed with you that the first part was a travel. I never said he got pushed. I said some feel he got pushed. Where I disagree is that people claim he used "two pivot feet" which was not the case on the second travel. It was a perfectly good post move. I guess we'll have to agree to disagree.
