California prep Merv Lindsay commits to KU basketball team
Merv Lindsay, a 6-foot-7, 200-pound small forward from Canyon Springs High School in Moreno Valley, Calif., has committed to the Kansas men's basketball team, he confirmed via a text message to the Journal-World.
Lindsay, who orally committed to Texas Tech in April before reopening his recruitment, picked KU over Marquette. He visited KU's campus on June 10.
Lindsay is not ranked in Rivals.com's list of top 150 basketball players in the Class of 2011. He will be eligible to play in the 2011-12 season.
The small forward averaged 15 points, 10.2 boards and 4.4 assists a game his senior season.

In most years I would be disappointed, but really this leaves us with 2 tenders for 2012. Hopefully,
no transfers and the ability to have 4 kids come in the following year. A small forward is a dime a
dozen, good luck at KU. I will say he will never make it 4 years there unless he likes riding the pines.
I heard recently that we are not done and Lindsay was third on our list. I think something could pop in next week or so.
Interesting. I think it's the right decision but the selfish fan side of me wants both scholarships open for 2012
I would like to see a last minute development allowing The Iceman to be immediately eligible and Buzz swooping in to land him...ala, the DJO situation. 8-)

Not really bad news here. Any time we are up against Bill Self and KU and the decision is between us and them, I know what I would do if I was 18....

So if he was third, who else are they looking at, as there as been no mention of anybody else on either boards?
I guess he loves getting recruited over! lol

He may just be happy being a practice player on a team like Kansas. The problem with recruiting non-starters is recruiting a player that thinks he should be a starter. Not every player can start. However, few of them realize that.
Merv might be that one sleeper that turns out big, for him I hope so. KU recruited 6 kids this year and I am
sure 3 0or 4 next year, I wish him the best. I did not see alot of playing time at MU either at the three. But
if he is dead on shooter, he would get time at either school. I must admit it must by trying to recruit for MU,
Buzz gets close but it really shows that MU is a second tier basketball school. 2012 will be big for him, he is
losing his best two players.
Can't say I blame him. I suppose he could have eventually been a contributor here, but everything seems to indicate he would have started out fairly far down the depth chart and had his work cut out for him. He'd be behind JW and JJ for 3 years, and compete with JA all 4 years, plus whoever else comes in, since Buzz seems to like the long switchable types. If you're gonna sit the bench, you might as well do it at a place like Kansas.
i heard we didn't offer so Buzz might not have been interested at all

We had him in for a visit, so there was interest. It could be that by the time he visited here he was so sold on Kansas there was no reason to offer him.

Or it could be that after the visit we did not have the same interest in him. Goose stated somewhere that he heard Lindsay was 3rd in the pecking order for Buzz. Perhaps that is why he had interest in and committed to Kansas.
See, sometimes MU drives the decision.

He was raving about his Kansas visit. At that time I figured we were out of it.
