On Todd Rosiaks twitter yesterday he mentioned 2012 6'8" F from Chicago Steve Taylor is taking an unofficial yesterday. Anyone know anything on him?
A little digging found this:
Class of 2012 Chicago Simeon (IL) star Steve Taylor of the Mac Irvin Fire now has a scholarship offer on the table from the University of Memphis.
Taylor, who now stands 6'8, is the #1-ranked Class of 2012 prospect in the state of Illinois, and is a Top 100 prospect nationally.
Taylor has a long line of scholarship offers on the table including an offer from DePaul of the Big East conference, and Northwestern from the Big 10 conference.
Taylor and the 17-U Mac Irvin Fire will be in action this weekend at the Nike EYBL in Dallas, Texas.

Here you go.
He also tweeted that it is about 50/50 that another player is added this summer.
When? Who? We are all thirsting for information on a big recruit this summer.

Yahoo has him at 230 but ESPN has him at 175? Anyone kow which is more likely?

He didn't say, but I doubt that it will be a "big" recruit. And it still might mean transfer.

Class of 2011 F Mervyn Lindsay of Moreno Valley, Calif. will start an official visit to #MUBB on Monday. Had committed to Texas Tech.

Well Scout has him at 200...ha
sounds promising

Looks like a solid player that could replace Jae. Needs some muscle, does not jump that well but
has a good shot and seems to understand the game. Can go inside as well as out. It is always
a match up issue when a 4 can shot, Lazar and Joe got open looks at the 4. Not sure if he is
ready physically to bang in the Big East. If MU could add him and one more big for 2012, it would
be nice to have some depth upfront.
Reggie Smith played for Mac Irvin Fire, right?
I wonder if that has any play in Taylor's future plans with MU.
I hope it doesn't (negatively) as we need his size. We were loaded at the G position with Smith.
I'd say a kid ranked as the Number 1 prospect in Illinois in the Class of 2012, and 4-star recruit - as the article says - would be a good get. 6'8" and seems to rebound well, plays at one of the best programs in Chicago, and Mac Irvin Fire, and top AAU circuit...good pedigree.
Taylor sounds like he would be a good fit at Marquette. Wish he would committ sooner instead of later. It sounds like we have a limited number of openings and it will be first come first served. If he waits too long the scholarships may be gone.
And if he really likes MU and Buzz thinks he's a guy they really need, MU may wait it out for him. Let him make his decision in his timeframe. It's his college choice and not ours.
First come, first serve!

That's right.
We don't wait on you, you wait for us!
These rebounding numbers look excellent. He could be a heck of a player for MU.
"On the travel-team circuit this spring, Taylor has played well for the Mac Irvin Fire squad that finished 11-4 in the prestigious NIKE Elite Youth Basketball League (NEYBL). He turned in games of 14 points and 12 rebounds, 15 points and 13 rebounds and 14 points and 14 rebounds in the NEYBL and finished in double-scoring figures in all but three games."
ESPN's writeup on Lindsay isn't exactly gushing. If he's going to play forward at that height, he'd better find some ball skills and mid-range game. Worst of all, can't see Buzz drooling over someone who "doesn't want to guard."
