I was wondering if any of you have any updates for Lacrosse recruiting? My brother who is currently on the club lax team said they there have been something like 7 commitments from guys from New York who are mostly defensemen (which makes sense considering we hired a defensive coach). Also I know that we have a commitment from a kid from Brother Rice Detroit, and another Brother Rice kid who is already at MU will be playing. He was an All American defenseman in High School.
If anyone has any news on anything else I would appreciate it. Thanks
Any idea when these guys would be starting school? I know that the plan is to get players on campus this fall to be ready for the first season in spring 2013.
Don't know about lacrosse recruiting in Michigan, but to keep up with the big boys, the talent is in New York, New Jersey, Maryland and Virginia.
Metro Detroit has some good lacrosse and same with Ohio. Brother Rice is one of the power houses of the Midwest, in 2008 we won the national championship and have sent plenty of kids to great D1 schools. As far as when the kids will be on campus the two that I know will be there for the second summer school session to work out and get things going.
I am personally really excited for MU Lacrosse, I think in 5 years we can be a tournament contender if we dominate the midwest in recruiting (which could be a bit difficult with University of Michigan going D1 also) and bring in a good amout of east coast kids every year as well.

Can't disagree there. Just dug up the roster of this year's Northwestern women's team, since they're about 90 miles away and have won the title 6 out of the last 7 years.
Out of 29 players, 22 are from either New York or Massachusetts. If we can make in roads recruiting those areas, we could be at least relatively competitive quickly.
Here's one brah joining MU early (looks like he plays the same position i did in college although I usually spent my time playing the upper field with the occassional desperate run to the mid field during a slump in action.

That's fantastic! Nice to see the athletic department and Coach Amplo getting out there to shake the bushes for talent!
Why isnt LaCrosse WI a hotbed for the game? The world Lacrosse Hall of fame and museum should be there...with Jim Brown in the initial induction class, to get national publicity on the ceremony. lol
BTW, Did midwest indians like Chippewa, Kickapoo, or Menomonee, play lacrosse...or was it just a game among the Iriquois Nation?
