The biggest change that will affect MU is surrounding returning the court after a timeout:

There's no reason a guy who has driven all the way to the basket should be punished with a charge so close to the hoop.
Flagrant 1 and Flagrant 2s are already separated in college, but the NCAA currently calls them intentional fouls and flagrant fouls. The change to Flagrant 1 and 2 would just be to align with the NBA.

Does anyone else think that MU averaged at least one waved-off layup per game because of a charge under the hoop? At the very least, I would have to say that MU had more layups waved off than charges they took under the basket last year.
In any event, the charge arc should be beneficial to MU next year IMO.

The change I would like to see them make is to have a charge be treated only as a turnover and not a personal foul. Sometimes a judgement call has a hugh impact on a game. There is a hugh diffenerce between a player scoring and being given a free throw vs having the basket being taken away and then be given his third or fourth foul on top of losing the basket. While the arc will make the call clearer, it is one more thing for the refs to try to keep track of. I can see the instant replays now on whether the defender's foot was on the arc line.

It doesn't make it illegal to play defense. It objectifies what is a difficult judgement call. It has helped in the nba quite a bit.

Actually, the rule has been in place for the past few years. The problem was it was left up to interpretation by each official. I like the change they have made. In the past few years, fans would scream when a blocking foul was called and the player had position. That is because of the rule that is currently in place. This line will clear it up for the players/coaches/fans and clean up the inconsistencies between officials.
So I guess with this new rule this will not be a foul anymore....
