I find it interesting that Taylor, along with several of Buzz's recruits, commit without ever visiting MU's campus. This really highlights that many players choose coaches instead of schools.
I know it has been stated that TJ will join us for the 2012-2013 season with 3 seasons of eligibility remaining, after playing this season for Paris CC.
Hypothetically speaking, would he be ABLE to join us for the second semester this season with 3.5 yrs of eligibility remaining?
Afterall, he did qualify out of HS, and transferred from OU in December of last year. Enrolling at MU for the 2nd semester would satisfy the 'no D-1 basketball for 1 year' transfer requirement. The sooner he can get here, the better!

The following is speculation:
Would it be a problem if TJ had a very poor academic semester his first semester at OU after his severe concussion? That could mess with his eligibility. It'd be odd if his coach at Paris said that he'd be focusing on his academics if TJ already had his ducks in a row.
Maybe I'm reading too much into this, though.
I do not think showing up for the second semester would provide much value. He would not know any of the offensive or defensive schemes.

It may or may not pay dividends this season, but there is no question it would help a great deal down the road.

In just about every case, the coaches are the reason, not the school.
I'd rather have him put in a full season of JUCO ball rather than be a mid year transfer.
I'd rather have a straight transfer, where he can spend the next year on campus immersing himself in the team and the MU community.

I think it all depends on who we can fill the last 2011 scholarship with.
Wouldn't make sense to transfer at mid-semester. If he plays first semester at Paris, he would be done for the year, and not be able to play until the following year. Would make more sense to stay at Paris and play the whole year. The only way that would work is if he did not play first semester at Paris, and why would Paris give him a schollie if he never played for them?
Chuck Taylor had said that the plan was for TJ to graduate from Paris next May, so I don't see them deviating from that plan.

Good point. No schollie tied up for 2011. I didn't think it through in that direction.
if buzz values class balance at all, he may very well bank the schollie. Taylor will be a sophomore when he comes in, so if we add another 2011 recruit, we'll only have one player in the 2012 class.

Exactly. Of course you would rather have him here the entire year, but he would be better off full year at JUCO than just a half.

Ideally you would like to have class balance, but with transfers like Mbakwe and Roseboro (just before start of year) and mid-year transfers like Maymon and Smith along with health issues (Liam McMorrow), I think a coach learns not to worry about class balance.

Yea, i know highlight clips can be misleading, but this kid looks pretty gifted and reading his comments, he seems to have a good head on his shoulders along with a attitude which should fit right in with his teammates.

It also will give him 2 years of classes under his belt (assuming everything transfers). Which means a lighter classload when averaged over the 3 years he'll be at Marquette. Which means more time that can be spent at the Al.
Good point T-Bone, while some may say it is only a Juco, I thought it was impressive that his coach said he would graduate from Paris next May - a 2 year degree in a year and a half.

I would think his credits from his first semester of college would have transferred to juco, so he is really graduating in two years with a two year degree. As far as workload at MU, I believe they have to take and pass a minimun of 12 credits a semester. Which means you take 5 three credit classes, so you can drop the one that is giving you the most trouble.
Not sure about the strategy but one has to have 12 credit hours to be considered a full time student; probably necessary for NCAA participation. Heck, at places like Kentucky, the 'one and done's' would do one 3 credit class if allowed!
