I saw him walking on campus last night with his arm/shoulder in a sling. Hopefully his recovery goes well.
He's been sporting it for awhile. He was wearing it at the banquet too. Torn labrum.
OK, medical types around here, prognosis and recovery schedule for torn labrum surgery.
Jameer Nelson tore his labrum a couple years ago and I believe he was out 4-5 months. In other words, I'd think EWill would be ready for Midnight Madness.
Whew...much better than a rotator cuff issue.

Depends on if it was a type 1 or 3 or a type 2 or 4. The SLAP lesion repair for type 1 and 3 SLAP are basically just surgical debridement (taking bad stuff out) with no actually detaching or reattaching of structure. The result of this is a short rehabilitation consisting of a sling for 1-2 weeks and progressive range of motion (ROM) and strength with return to activity at about 2 months.
The type 2 and 4 repairs are more severe and require reattachment of the labrum and biceps tendon. The rehabilitation for this is much longer; sling for 4 weeks followed by a much slower progression of ROM and strength resulting in a return to activity time frame of 6-9 months.
I heard he hurt it while he was beating the $hit out of some ROTC dude.

Anyhow, it goes back as the answer to this thread: http://www.muscoop.com/index.php?topic=26644.0
Apparently it was hurt for a while during the season.
Question - How do you you get this kind of injury, other than dislocating your shoulder? I tore my labrum as the result of a dislocation and/or subsequent reduction, but can it be done in some other way (ie. without the full dislocation of the joint)?
I tore my labrum crashing my Harley but I did not dislocate anything in the process, just slammed my shoulder into the side of the car that turned in front of me

and you brew your own beer? badass.
Might I suggest brewing an Irish Red Ale called... Torn Labrum!
Be unfortunate if the injury is serious enough that it'll keep EWill from playing summer ball. He's got the tools, just needs more court time, especially this offseason in preparation for a 10-15 minute role next year.

Is that similar to Elephant Balls?

Yeah, but was the Harley OK?

not exactly, it needed some roadside bending of parts in order to follow the ambulance to Green Bay (wife cracked a rib) and then ride it home to Milwaukee after she was released but the kid that hit us from Chicago driving daddy's Benz had Allstate and they covered the damage and I even came out with some upgrades ;D
I didn't mention to the Mrs. that I had no rear brake for that ride home until the next day, she was a bit pi$$ed about that
