We should definately pursue him. Just left nc state due to coaching change. Seven footer with a frame. Go get him Buzz!!!

Saw this earlier...play up the DJO being from Raleigh too angle and get this kid up to MKE!
Yea, this guy seems like he'd be a great get if we can't get Murray.
Did he have any interest in Marquette before committing to NC State? Or is this just a hope that somehow he would find some interest after decommitting?

I am fairly certain that 99% of the posters on this board never heard of him before yesterday.

I think you are right Sultan--some people are getting carried away with this recruiting stuff. I am all for landing a stud and do have an interest in who we are going after, but it seems like every guy that decommits or is considering a transfer, we get several or more posts "Go get him Buzzer", etc. Usually a team, including MU, has some strategy on who they are after, and I do not think that MU staff sits there on each of these decommits and stands in line to get a date with the prom queen. Most recruits do not just drop in your lap, but they are usually somebody the staff has developed a relationship over time.
It would be far more informative to know and talk about who we are actively pursuing, but that info is hard to ascertain, because you cannot get it from the staff.
Sultan and willie agreeing :o I'd better go check my car to wipe off all the pig crap that's fallen on it. What's more, I agree with them too ;D
I'm all for Buzz bringing in the best recruits, but sometimes it simply isn't a realistic idea to think that he'll get a guy. Aaric Murray makes sense, he showed interest before, we were one of the first names mentioned when he announced his transfer, there's reason to think we have a chance.
Uchebo's an interesting case. Looking at his various scouting profiles, it seems no one was ever in on him outside of NC State. I haven't seen any other interest or offers, it's somewhat strange. I did notice a West Virginia site and a Kentucky site saying they wanted him (much like this thread) and a Kansas site from a year ago saying they thought he'd sign there, but nothing concrete that he actually had interest anywhere other than NC State. It'll be interesting to hear where this kid signs, but until I hear he's visiting Marquette, this really seems like a non-starter.
Rumor has it that Ubecho will need to go to prep school to get his grades in order and will reclassify as a 2012 recruit.
I would like to clarify that my comment that Buzz should try the "DJO is from Raleigh, too angle" was more in jest than anything else.
Wade and Sultan, you are spot on...NO ONE had really heard of this kid and because we never heard of him its a safe assumption that we were never even a thought for him and therefore don't have a shot in hell...Personally, I was more or less playing around because, frankly, it's the offseason and it's the spring signing period and therefore us posters / college basketball enthusiasts need some sort of activity to fill our days (you can't expect someone to put in a full days work during the month long post-March-Madness hangover, can you?)
If we're talking about realistic opportunities for a de-commit / transfer, the only one who has any actual history with us is Latham from Xavier...landing Uchebo, to me, would be like pulling a rabbit out of someone's ass...that being said, though, none of the recruiting sites seem to show any other offers or schools that recruited him, so it'll be interesting to see where he lands - but again, I DO NOT expect it to be in Milwaukee...

This is the only thing I've seen to give me any hope we could get in on him. If he waits until Spring 2012 to commit, that would give Buzz a year to work on him, and potentially a year for DJO to let everyone know that Raleigh players can succeed in Milwaukee. Still seems unlikely, but not impossible.
And Iceman...we were also supposedly in on Desmar Jackson from Wyoming, but never offered ;) but you're right, outside of Latham and Aaric Murray, most of these transfers have no history with us.

I didn't know who he was.
Doesn't Joseph have a sister who was messin' around with Tiger Woods?
It sure would be nice to sign a "big" this spring, so he can work out with the team this summer! The addition of a really athletic "big" will move the team up a notch, from "good" to "very good." It will help the other players play better by allowing them to play in their appropriate positions instead of compensating for the lack of a true center. No offense to Otule. The new big will complement him - better balance the playing time and fouls. Wish Buzz and the coaching staff could let us know who they're after and what's going on.

No, they don't - my bad, I confused a story I read earlier without double-checking
Chris Bolden de-committed from Miami possibly for GA Tech. Miami's coaching search is taking too long for Chris Bolden to remain committed to Hurricanes.
The 6-foot-3 combo guard from Norcross High School de-committed from Miami on Monday. The Hurricanes are still looking for a basketball coach to replace Frank Haith, who took the Missouri job on April 4.

Ahh, that makes more sense.
It's a shame that no one at "the U" even seems to care about their basketball program.
Here's an interview with Uchebo from the Jordan Brand Classic. He doesn't mention Marquette when asked which schools are recruiting him, so I'd say it's pretty safe to say he's not looking at us.

I would love this guy based on his size and build. Agree that it seems like a real long shot.
However, I just have to say that highlight video posted at the lead of this thread is about the lamest I have ever seen. I hope that he is more exciting to watch than that!
