You've got to at least give me some analysis or reason to click a link you post. Talk about lazy marketing, even the MU Facebook account tries harder!
Wow, Skat's got it in for this guy

Look at his posts. It's always just blogspam without any actual effort put into posting. You'd think he'd take some pride in his work.
What more is there to say though? Don't you read that and think, oh I better get on getting tickets if I want to go...I bet this link has more info....or am I missing some hidden agenda?
I apologize for thinking you might be interested in any information regarding the team from it's official website, which I guess you call "spam."
Next time I will make sure to question Buzz's play calling and/or complain about something completely random and then include the link in an effort to create more traffic.
If you reference Tom Crean that seems to get everyone's attention. Something like - -"Crean not invited but a few tickets remain..."

It's obviously that you put very little effort into your job. Posting a title and a link to, especially when it's a link to the same site every. time. you. post. is the laziest form of advertising that anyone can take part in. You're simply trying to drive traffic to gomarquette dot com, and that's obvious.
You offer no explanation of why anyone should care. You offer no explanation of what the men's hoops banquet is. You've added absolutely nothing except for linking to a site that everybody is already aware of.
Crack jokes if you want. You're still promoting something like the Postseason Banquet, celebrating Buzz and our outgoing Seniors taking MU to the Sweet 16, the laziest way possible. It's just disappointing that I've already put significantly more effort into this than you have.
...and I have a new signature!

I believe that in the message board world, this would be what you call "owning" someone. Bravo, Ska.

Close but I think the kids call it: "pwning"
the smell of vag is in the air. someone's ovulating.
let the kid promote a great MU event, the $50 banquet dinner, get drunk, throw bows with some stale azz big wigs for a night...tag the wifey if you get real drunk.

He's not a kid. He's Scott Kuykendall, Assoc. AD at Marquette.
To Skatastrophy's point, we've tried to engage Scott and ask him to do more than just bomb us with links, and instead, participate in some capacity, like an "Ask the AD" thread.
Unfortunately, no luck there.
oh....just assumed GoMU spamming was the job of first year's earning their beer money.

Gee, after the way he was treated in this thread, I can only wonder why he wouldn't jump at the opportunity. ::)

I thought the athletic department was embarrassed by this forum?
Scott, next time you even think about posting a link, you better have a haiku with it.

I'm sorry, but Ska is right. It is seriously embarrassing for the guy in charge of media relations to promote an event with so little lead.

Ones that don't need 5 years to judge a Head Coach. ;)

All kidding aside, this is a pretty defensive response for someone who is supposed to be in media relations. I mean come on, I'm sure you've taken a least a couple of PR classes, right?
I appreciate the interest in my posting techniques and can only hope that the amount of views to this thread has at least resulted in a few registrations for our upcoming banquet, which was the original point to begin with, even if it was lazy (space really is limited and the deadline rapidly approaching, which I thought the subject clarified). It will be a great night and include video appearances by several former Golden Eagles.
I would take issue with the fact that RoneyEford13 bombs this site, since based on official statistics provided we have posted 101 times since October of 2009, or .183 times per day. I also find it interesting that on a site filled with those utilizing a screen name, that my real "identity" was so casually offered to the board. Even the infrequent observer would be able to tell it was someone in athletics, so it's really not that big of a deal to me. I can only hope that trend will continue with the All-American level posters on this board that I enjoy reading on a daily basis. Feel free to introduce yourselves at the banquet on April 13 (limited space remains for this event, FYI).
As for any additional links besides those from the GoMarquette.com feed already established, I will allow you to not have to worry about the burden of the .183 posts per day from now on and won't be posting factual and relavent men's basketball information to this site. RoneyEford13 is officially dead (on this board at least). Have a good night.
Holy crap. Even more embarrassing. I oversee a university marketing department and if my media relations guy acted like this it would certainly result in a "teachable moment."
Seriously ska made a very good point that you would have wise to consider instead of acting so defensive.
Wow. Seriously? Did someone hijack your account, or did that piece of anti-public relations just spill out of your keyboard?
Wow. First, Craig Pintens leaves. Now this? Slippery slope.
Lets calm it down we're all MU family. Scott won me over, put me down for the chicken this year.

Happy happy joy joy...only happy thoughts....never say anything ever that could be negative....got it. When do we get the arm bands, uniforms and symbols to wear? No speculation...DJ Newbill says hi...so does Brad Forester.
Thanks for telling us what the criteria of a "good fan" is. Maybe you should distribute a manual.

Is it October yet?

You are the very definition of an awful fan. You act like you are doing everyone a public service around here. If things are so awful, put up or shut up, don't be a kitten hiding anonymously on a message board.
Think we are really being over-reactive or hypersensitive as to what RoneyEford13 posts here. If he wants to simply post a link to make MU fans (that are clearly here on this board) aware of an event with a link...so be it. If he wants to write a little background about what is contained in the link...so be it. Give the guy some slack.
Honestly, if he didn't post that link here..I would not have been aware of the event..as I don't visit gomarquette.com very often or regularly.

Three day ban to Baby for the genitalia insult.
Kinda surprised that that word isn't auto-filtered like some others.
Back to the thread...I actually didn't (and still don't) have a problem with just the link being posted. My haiku request was a joke.
But the response was a bit defensive, that's all. I actually know nothing about PR but it seemed a little off-putting, to say the least. Found it at least a little ironic he's in media relations. That's all. Carry on.
I am just bummed to hear that it wasn't indeed the real Roney Eford posting.

More embarrassing? Ska mad a very good point? Then hilltopper gives his name? Yeah, really classy from those two.
Could not disagree with you more. The original post was very clear, provided a link and skat/hilltopper used it to further their differences/agenda with the OP. The embarrassing part is on behalf of those two.
A reason why this board does have a bad rep.

My offering of constructive criticism has nothing to do with an agenda. It simply struck a cord with me yesterday because I have an employee that's exactly like RoneyEfford13. Every task that he has he does the absolute minimum, taking absolutely no pride in his work.
It's not every day that someone rage-quits a forum, especially over something silly (albeit true).
I'll put a gomarquette.com link in my signature. It'll be like he never left.

Gotta love when Chicos gets called out by someone who just started posting yesterday.
On a side note, the fact that RoneyEford
didn't put any description with his link probably got a lot more attention than if he
did put other details in the post besides just the link. I find that pretty amusing.
So, it's the offseason huh...

Skat - Although I disagreed with calling out the dude...I do find your above idea and follow through to be quite funny.
First off .. Honestly, I assumed many people already figured out who RoneyEford13 was. As he posted, even he didn't think it was a big deal to be unmasked, not sure why others have their panties in a bunch about it.
Second .. my agenda is pretty obvious, but let me spell it out. Over the last 6-7 years, the reason I've spent a few thousand hours on this hobby .. the reason I've started hundreds of topics and taken and posted hundreds of photos and scores of videos .. is to create an online community of MU basketball fans.
Without guys like Mike Juno, John Dodds, IWB, unclejohn, SoCalWarrior, NYWarrior, MU92, rocky, Spiral and myself .. the MU online community would be about as awesome as UWM's.
The method to this success has been to create content to attract eyeballs, sure, but also to foster quality "content generators" / users to contribute.
Now, in the past Dodds used to delete posts when Cracked Sidewalks "bombed" Scout .. his rationale for deleting those was that he'd worked hard to create his site, and posting a link uses his hard work to promote another site, leaking eyeballs. -- Scoop doesn't roll that way, of course. But Dodds logic does make some sense, and I could see why he'd put a stop to a 3rd party taking advantage of his work.
But indeed, Scoop does let the MU Athletic Dept just post their links to drive our traffic to them. My agenda? Get the MU Athletic Dept to *participate* with this forum, instead of just using it to their advantage. Yeah, I'm a bad guy for trying to get them to engage their own community of fans.
So to MUMac and Babytownfrolics and any others .. since Scoop is run so poorly, I expect to see you not visiting any longer.
