So we are coming to the end of the year and the final season rankings will be coming out soon. In the most recent AP rankings, MU was receiving 3 votes in the AP. MU went on to beat #20 Xavier and #12 Syracuse in the tournament. Does anyone think we might be ranked in the final rankings? I think we will be right on the frindge and just miss out, but I was curious what others thought.
out
Syracuse-- in
Xavier maybe in
Even though we played the most ranked teams, beat so and so, I think 15 losses is just to much. However I dont know if the postseason poll is coming out because espn already did theirs. Much earlier than last year. Hopefully another comes out.
If we didn't look like a JV team versus North Carolina I think we would have been. Since we did get beat like a hooker in stilettos we won't be ranked.
No. 22-15 does not deserve it.
Whatever, the sweet sixteen isn't something one can vote on.
No.
Yes, Sweet 16 teams are almost always ranked, even with a so so record I'd expect us to be.
AP: No--the final is already out.
Coaches: Maybe. The final is released after the championship game.
I'm more concerned that we get in the preseason top 25.
Yes? No? Maybe? Who really give a fu*k? Honestly, ranking don't mean anything, especially end of the year rankings. There will be teams "ranked" ahead of us that didn't accomplish what we did. We went to the Sweet 16...that is all that matter.
Top 25 PREseason ranking could go a long way for us - our early turkey time 'tourney' is a weak field with a potential for no losses, and if we can win one out of the wisco/vandy games without any other hiccups, we could climb to top 20/15 before conference season starts. That is exactly the position you need to be in for the big east so as to asbsorb some of your 'expected' conference losses- no BAD conference losses and we may be looking at being ranked come selection time, which is where 5 and higher seeding comes into play - which is history tells you where you really need to be to make a deep tourney run.

Yeah, I'll take the Sweet 16 appearance over some arbitrary, cosmetic, pointless, sportswriter BS ranking any day. I'm sure Xavier fans are totally GEEKED to end the season RANKED.
Hey... according to some people, we can't be worse than the #16 team in the country.
;D
Shouldn't but think we will be in or very close.

I do, that number in front of our name says a lot. People will actually talk and say hey Marquette can play, even though we know.

Don't forget LSU on the road. They had a down year, but have a great group of freshmen that led their team this year and an excellent recruiting class coming in. That trip to Baton Rouge won't be easy, and will likely be another big factor on whether or not we get to or stay in the polls.
I still rather have been in the Sweet 16 than have a top 25 ranking only to lose in the First Round to Kalamazoo State ;)

Hey...according to the NCAA we're getting paid that way. ;)
