Anyone watching the game on ESPNU? There is some serious talent on the court. No defense as is a typical all star game, but b-ball skills galore.
Doc River's kid is fantastic and that Brandon Dawson who MU missed out on is a rebounding machine.
Just alot of good looking ball players.
Not watching it on ESPNU. Watching it on ESPN.
It's pretty insane how Duke, UNC, Kentucky get 3-4 players.
Syracuse and Ohio State with multiples as well.
It just shows what Buzz means by "no burger game guys"
Yes Buzz, please let us know when you plan on landing just ONE!

Crazy fan bases that will draw ratings and chatter...not the best 24 players in the country.

You are welcome. He has all the support he needs with his BIG$$ contract, and the admin. He needs to convert that to landing some big time recruits, IMO.

Weird, you woulda thunk Buzz hasn't had a top 20 recruiting class the last few years.
I was at the game yesterday and I have to disagree about Rivers. Although, I agree that he's an all around stud, he didn't impress me very much yesterday. James McAdoo, on the other hand, did. He's going to be really really special.

Are you saying that this year's is?

We shall see, but two 4 star's in Juan Anderson and Jamil Wilson, a 3 star on the rise in Todd Mayo, and a 3 star in Derrick Wilson is a helluva start, with one to go.
Adding Wilson in this year when some services added him in last year seems like double dipping.
Anderson is rated a 4 star on Rivals but is unrated on other sites. And I do not recall, but I do not believe that each of Buzz's recruiting classes has been top 20.
My real point is that he needs to bring in some occasional top 20 recruits, which he has yet to do. Those guys can take us to the next level. I would expect him to do that now that he is making the huge cash and has the school fully behind him. Good facilities, good tradition, best conference in country, good school, NBA arena, etc. But alas, it is Milwaukee and there is not any good looking tail there.

Which services? I believe the rankings were all done well before Wilson decided to leave Oregon and transfer to Marquette. That was late June, and those services were focusing on the Summer AAU and '11 kids.

Let's turn this into a SEMANTICS argument!
And sure, I get it, why stop at being negative about the program and Buzz, when you can get negative about the school, and it's female student population?

Kansas, Kentucky UNC and Duke get 12 of these 20 players each year. Of the other 8, they are split among about of 50 schools. These 20, 10 stay about 1 or 2 seasons and come out earlier. The other 10 turn out to be about as good as a 4 or 5 start recruit, of which we have three on our team now (J. Wilson, Blue and Crowder).
Buzz is underpaid if he is going to get the "occasional" top 20 recruit. That is what Pitino, Howland, Boeheim, Calhoun and JT III do.
Add to above
Buzz doesn't need "top 20" players. He needs better "luck". He had the opportunity to get Jeremy Lamb and DJ Newbill. Instead we had Reggie Smith for 10 games.

IMO, it's a little weak to include transfers from DI schools to puff up the "ranking" of a class.
DI transfers are in a different world than Freshman recruits.

Not negative about the school--read the post and comprehend. I said it was a good school. Not negative about the female population--that is an excuse others offer for why we lose big time recruits, because there are better looking girls elsewhere--which IMO is a very lame excuse. And that refrain has been stated on this board on a number of occasions.

Your real point is that you want to set the bar so high that anything below it would be considered a failure and reason to replace Buzz.
We get it Willie. In your little fantasy world you demand final fours and five star recruits every year. You made your point now go away.

UMMM.....Just checked the RSCI site, which a number of the recruiting gurus refer to when applauding our recruiting. MU: 2010, not top 20; 2009, 18; 2008, not top 20.
Just sayin'

How was Buzz supposed to pull a top 20 recruiting class in 2008 when he took over April 1, 2008? So you can scratch 2008 from your post, as that was Crean's last class. Also, RSCI only accounts for high school prospects, not JUCO players or transfers. Crowder, DJO, Wilson and Buycks factored in make the 2009 and 2010 classes much better than the RSCI class rank.
Just sayin'.
