Title: Lazar v. Bulls
Post by: HoopsMalone on March 30, 2011, 09:08:42 PM
It's garbage time on CSN in Chicago and Lazar is in.  5 mins and I would guess he finishes the game.

Neil Funk just referred to him as Leon Hayward from Marquette University.

Stacey King also said that Syracuse couldn't hit a shot in the NCAA (commenting on how poor the Syracuse players on the T-Wolves were playing).

On the radio they mentioned Lazar went to Marquette and was the last pick of the first round.  Also said Buzz Williams received a rich new contract today.  They said well deserved after getting to the sweet sixteen.  They commented on Lazar had a strong upper body that allowed him to finish in the paint.  Then they got into some banter about the Big East's performance in the tourney.

I have not seen the Wolves play much this year, but they looked pretty bad.  Every player was trying to get their own shot.  They played no defense.  That is a tough spot for a rookie.  For the last pick in the first round, its too bad he ended up on the worst team rather than the best.

I was at the game and gave Lazar a standing ovation when he entered the game (he has only appeared in roughly half of the team's games this season).  Not his finest performance, but pretty typical for the Wolves.  Lots of Chicago fans in the building tonight.  Best part of the evening, besides Zarro playing, was the Asian buffet in the Cambria Club.

It's nice to be on a winning team, but if he was on a team like Boston he wouldn't get any PT.  At least he's getting some minutes here and there.

The T-wolves are a mess and I have to believe that K-Love is going to get out of there as soon as he can. I wish the Wizards would have hung onto Zar at the draft. They're awful too right now, but they at least have some young, talented players in Wall and McGee to build around.

Hey.....

Things could be far worse.....

1.  He could not be in the NBA with no guaranteed 3 year contract for $x00,000 a year.....

2.  Or he could be in the NBA and playing for Cleveland and being the last guy on the bench with a face that looks like Arnold Ziffle.....Now that is about as bad as it gets......

That was written in the Pioneer Press by Charley Walters who is basically a sports gossip columnist....I would take his "reporting" with a grain of salt.
