Title: Roy Williams
Post by: Stronghold on March 25, 2011, 08:28:29 PM
Looked like him and Buzz exchanged some good words at the end of the game as well as him and Jimmy.  Seems like he had a lot of respect for us and for that I respect him.  Personally hoping for a UNC vs UCONN championship.

Williams, Roy, has respect for Williams, Buzz.  Tough game, but this is just one game.  Respect among peers.

Roy's a class guy and always takes time to talk to opposing players after a game-sometimes they look surprised at how much he's saying to them.

Maybe Roy is compensating for something. #let'saskMrs.Williams

UNC would play UConn in the Final Four, not the title game. Not a big deal, but just sayin'...

Sultan--Vander and Jamil Wilson are our two best baskeball players next year. Maybe Vander is not our best player but he is a basketball talent. I do not like guys talking to our guys..never know what they say, J.P. and Vander would look dynamite together and if no J.P. I want Vander staying here.

Believe it or not but EVERY team in the country would love to have Vander Blue on their team.

I can't see them getting by Arizona tomorrow.  I hope I'm wrong...Sean Miller really has it going at UA and Williams is dynamite.  He's from the town next to mine and was a stud in high school, but no one thought he was going to be THIS good.

What, do you think he's recruiting him to transfer?  Seriously?  He likely just said a few encouraging words to him.  Don't read more into it than that.

Did you find the second shooter?  That is quite a leap, talking to a kid you recruited when he was in high school at the end of a game does not mean he is recruiting him now.

What's your solution? Should Buzz tell the team to boycott the post-game handshakes?

BrewCity77---Nice suggestion. He got more attention from Roy tonight than all scoop posters all season. Wonder why? Oh yeah, he is big time talent and Roy gets it.

Of course he's a great talent. I still expect Blue to be All-Big East before he leaves. But there's no way Roy was trying to lure him away from Marquette. I'm sure Roy knows him from camps and recruiting days and was just offering a few warm words of encouragement. The only way Blue would leave is if Buzz also left. He got 19 mpg as a freshman and will likely be challenging for starter minutes next year. He's not leaving.

With all due respect the discussion on this post has gone beyond absurd.  A winning coach says a few words to an opposing player after a game and now its assumed he's trying to recruit him!  Get real and get a life.

Don't say discussion, it was one poster.  All the others were saying similar things as you, but more directly.

I think they were discussing when they could get together to shoot some craps.

UCONN and UNC would meet in the national semifinal

Roy appeared to do most of the talking to Buzz and Buzz's reply was, "Thank you... I appreciate that".

Roy is one of the anointed ones in the coaching fraternity right now. Buzz is an up-and-comer. Roy is doing what the accomplished vets in any business do, encouraging the youth. Classy guy.

You could also tell by Roy's post game comments he has a high level of respect for Buzz and MU.
