Title: Buzz Was On Just On Homer ...
Post by: Tugg Speedman on March 25, 2011, 03:06:56 PM
Typical Buzz ...

Two things caught my ear:

1) Buzz and Roy Williams know each other and "have a relationship" (Buzz's term).  I wonder if this is an outgrowth of recruiting Tokoto or something else.

2) He doesn't care about the Curly references but worries that his wife Corey is worried that she is the woman that married Curly.  Homer told Buzz not to worry about that and tell her that she's getting the better end of that because "Curly got it done in a Wily Chamberlin kind of way."

Then coming out of the break Homer said UW fans are texting him and Thunder that Buzz is a lightweight and will never make a Final Four.  If he does this year, it will be a fluke (beating Xavier, Syracuse, UNC and either tOSU/Kentucky is a fluke?).  Bucky fans said he would never get the talent to compete at the Final Four Level.

That's comic gold. Do Bucky fans realize Bo Ryan has never had the talent to compete at that level? As best evidenced by Bo Ryan's teams never competing at that level?

If Buzz beats UNC, he will have two wins on his NCAA resume better than any of Bo's wins (already has one with Syracuse) and will also match Bo for total number of wins over single-digit seeds in less than a third the time. While Bo's been fine for Wisconsin, if you look at their career trajectory after 3 years, Buzz's is much, much, much, much higher.

Did I say much?

In a Monday press conference Roy said he had first met Buzz at a coaches conference somewhere.....said he's a really funny guy....talked about a funny story that Buzz told that he would not share in the press conference.

I'm pretty sure they met at a Nike camp in Puerto rico.

"Buzz Williams has a habit of studying a person a month, and he chose Roy Williams when both were on a Nike trip together to Puerto Rico. That led to a strange island adventure for the Marquette coach, who was apparently determined to find a copy of the autobiography before he left."

Buzz has more victories over higher seeds in this tournament than Bo has had in his career at UW.

Think about that for a second.
