Any idea if you can take the train and than the PATH or NJ transit to get there?
Your best shot from HPN would to take a cab to downtown White Plains train station. From there you could hope a MTA North to Grand Central Station then probably find a train to NJ. I would recommend flying right to Newark.
Just hitchhike, bro. It's cheap, efficient and I know my guy ZFB met two of his boyfriends through hitchhiking (Reuben and Mick). I suggest rocking the MU baby blues when you're thumbing for a ride.
PS - then vs than.
Take a train from RYE or White Plains to Grand Central(http://as0.mta.info/mnr/schedules/sched_form.cfm). Take a cab or the shuttle (subway line S), take a subway south to 34th st., Penn Station NYC (under MSG) take a train to Newark Penn Station, using this schedule (http://www.njtransit.com/hp/hp_servlet.srv?hdnPageAction=HomePageTo) 5 min walk from there to The Rock

It's on the New York border with Greenwich, CT.
HPN is only 30-40 minutes drive from Manahattan. To catch a Metro North from either White Plains, NY or Greenwich, CT to Grand Central Terminal see this schedule:

Then subway to Penn Station, then NJ Transit to Newark.
HPN isn't the best airport to arrive at to get to Newark, Jersey. If you don't want to rent a car then you have to take a cab to White Plains and get a train to Downtown Manhattan (Grand Central Station).
Once in NY, you will need to either hop on the Path (yellow) and transfer to the Red line (Transfer at Grove). That will get you to Penn Station in Newark.
Or get from Grand Central to Penn Station (New York) and take the NJ Transit Trains to Newark (Penn Station).
The good thing about HPN is that it is so small getting in and out is a 20 minute ordeal. I flew into HPN for 6 months from Chicago, if you are then expect a puddle jumper.
If you are willing to rent a car, HPN wouldn't be a bad option, just battle traffic crossing the bridges to New Jersey. You could also to Stewart Airport if you wanted to rent a car too. Another puddle jumper like airport, but no delays like NWK, LGA or JFK.
