Title: Weekend Reflections
Post by: White Shaq on March 22, 2011, 09:22:46 PM
It's Tuesday night, I have presentations tomorrow and Thursday at work and I'm still hoarse from this weekend's games. Being able to watch this team in the tournament in person was absolutely unbelievable. Here are some favorite/random memories from the weekend...

- Listening to the Marquette cheering section singing "O Canada" when Cadougan was up at the line during the Xavier game.
- Shaking hands and having a beer with Fr. Wild before the Syracuse game (he drinks Heineken).
- Heckling fans walking into the Q after overhearing them say "So we're going to watch Ohio State play George Mason and then Syracuse play... ummm, someone else." I bet they know our name now.
- Three goggles.
- Cheering for the team as they boarded the bus on the way to Sunday's game.
- Walking into the post-game party to cheers for everyone wearing the blue and gold.

Great times with great friends. Can't wait for Friday...

Sounds like an unreal time. Can't imagine the party if they beat UNC.

If he drinks Heineken, he qualifies as the most interesting man in the world!

It was amazing, the drive home Sunday night in the rain and lightning was much easier with the highlights of two Wins charging our brains and emotions. Flying at 9:22am Friday, thinking we have at least an even chance to be," the Giant Killers", again.

Loved the hip hop version of "D-Fense" too...just a wild time--the Buzzer was unreal--much better than during "Walk It Out".  MU Nation represented.

Yep. Totally cracked us up. The MU section in Cleveland was outstanding. Hoping they have a similar group in Jersey this weekend.

As much as I loved the seats I had in Cleveland, I really would have liked to have been in the MU section.  People looked at me kind of funny in our section when I was singing Ring Out Ahoya, chanting "We are Marquette" and "Let's Go Warriors!"  It didn't stop me, but I would have liked to be down with all the other excited MU fans.

Loved being at the game.  Wish we could have had more fans there, but the ones who were there were loud enough!

I will say it was my first experience with Ohio State fans.  They were the "Lowlight."  No class at all (during the GMU vs OSU game).  Constantly badgering a rather polite group of GMU fans with a huge lead was uncalled for.  From what I understand, it was the norm for them.

Other than that, WHAT A GREAT SECOND GAME!

A couple of years ago I was having dinner at Gibson's and tOSU had played up in Evanston earlier that day.  At least three tables were clad in Buckeye Sweatshirts and HATS.  Even more fans in Red Hoodies + Dad Jeans were walking around the V Triangle.  This was 8-9pm at night.  Were they stranded? Do they not own any other clothes?  Who in there right minds goes to dinner in your Ohio State hat?

+1 right there with you. The MU contingent was strong on both nights but, for obvious reasons, most heavily concentrated in the lower corner.

I sat in the upper deck MU section on Friday night and it was rocking.  At one point, a policeman made everyone sit down because he said standing was obstructing the fans behind them.  On Sunday, the upper section was much smaller.  I ended up moving down to the lower bowl and sitting with some friends.  There was a group of mu fans around us and it was a great time.  Hopefully this weekend will be just like the last.  A great atmosphere and two more W's!
