4:23: Dick Enberg reminds us that Marquette recently changed its name from the Warriors to the Golden Eagles. I forgot about that. That was one of the 50 lamest sports moments ever.
4:35: MSU 8, Marquette 0 ... and we're seven minutes into the first half. "Has anyone ever been shut out in the NCAAs before?" JackO wonders. Hmmmm ... are we counting the Women's NIT?
4:39: Drew Neitzel drains a 3 to put MSU up 11-0 with 11:34 remaining. Timeout, Marquette! They need to changed their name again to the Marquette We're Taking A Dump On National TVs.
5:45: This stat sums the night up: Marquette (trailing 37-24) has only made two two-point FGs tonight. The record? Five.
Maybe if MU should change its nickname to Red Sox. ::)

I love Bill Simmons... if you read the whole diary, he makes fun of every team... and if you think thats bad... you should see what he thinks about the Pac-10 and Big-10... (he called the 1 v 2 matchup between Ohio St and Wisconsin(the one played in Columbus), just guys throwing a rock at a bucket, or something to that extent)... don't worry... hes on Page 2, the point of his column is to make you laugh, which in this one he does, like when talking about Stanford and Louisville... the selection committee should take full responsibility of the riots in Syracuse and Kansas St.
Truth hurts sometimes
Bill Simmons' schtick is soooo played out. I am surprised he took the time to follow the NCAAs considering he knows absolutely nothing about it. The only thing worse than his college hoops knowledge is his college football acumen. The only thing he's any good at is ripping on "bloggers" and writing about his precious Celtics, Red Sox, and Patriots. I think ESPN has to remind him from time to time that he is writing a national blog, er, column that requires more than a passing glance outside of the east coast.
It's not his fault we sucked so bad.
Regardless, he's a national columnist and he had forgotten a name change that happened 13 years ago.
That great name we have has really taken hold.
It's a complete embarrassment and EVERYBODY (except a few boneheads on the two MU boards) knows it!!
Wow, your logic is certainly terrible there. You use his forgetting about the nickname change to actually support your position!!! He had to be reminded by Dick Enberg that it actually happened. Furthermore, I am almost certain he is talking about the whole Gold fiasco, not the change from Warriors to GEs. Get over it.

maybe I don't look at it as literal as you do, and brush little things off better than you.. he makes fun of every team in the NCAA, want him to pass on Marquette, why don't you email him, tell him it hurts your feelings, and personally I don't think he was making fun of Marquette there at all.
