Title: SOG
Post by: nyg on March 18, 2011, 09:11:58 PM
DJO who hit some awesome key shots, scoring 19

or

Butler, who held Holloway to 5 points.

I'd go with JFB.

But that was a team effort.

DJO... those threes never let them with in 10 points

Honestly it's a toss up for me, JFB or DJO. DJO with HUGE buckets when we needed them. Jimmy's fantastic defense and timely scoring in 1st half... give it to both!

Jimmy- along with his 15pts he had 5rb, 4ast, 4 stl and 3 fewer TO compared to DJO.  With that said, some great shots by Darius after a slow shooting start.  :)

I'm putting in a vote for Buzz. Perfect game plan, called a key second-half timeout at just the right time and made the right adjustments when Otule had to go out with foul trouble.

I've been a big critic of Buzz all season but he was fantastic tonight.

Jimmy.  Did a little of everything.

Buzz!!!

If it must be a player, I vote DJO.  Without his buckets, it may have turned out differently.  That 3 after the turnover was HUGE!!!!

Jimmy!! He set the tone early hitting some tough shots and his all-around effort was awesome. Close 2nd to DJO for his clutch 3's, but his 5 turnovers are also why I vote for JFB over DJO.

JFB.

DJO scored 19 but 5 Turnovers for a guard...ugh

Very slight edge to JFB over DJO if it has to be a player. But I'd give it to Buzz for a great game-plan and coaching throughout.

Gardner really deserves some credit here.  He logged a ton of minutes, played real good d on freeze, and got some big rebounds

NCAA tourney game is special and therefore calls for special conditions.  Award the SOG to the team.  It was a team effort where everyone contributed.  Some more than others but I'd like to see the whole team picture.

Hard to vote for a guard with 5 Turnovers     JB

SOG should go to Buzz!  We completely took them out of their game.  And I think his SOG picture should be of him dancing up and down after DJO's putback dunk last year against Louisville.

Buzz - he really had this team ready to play despite the crap going around about whether he is going or staying.

If it has to be a player...JFB...had a solid game and took Tu out of the game.

BUZZ--GREAT SCOUTING/SCHEMING/GAME PREP; EXCELLENT IN GAME COACHING, TIMELY TIMEOUTS, IN 2ND HALF TO STALL ANY COMEBACK RUNS, GOOD BIG MEN PLAY (CONSIDERING), AND VERY GOOD GUARD SUBSTITUTIONS. BEST DEFENSE, TEMPO CONTROL, AND CONSISTENCY OVER 40 MINUTES ALL YEAR.
ITS GREAT TO PLAY GREAT WHEN ON THE BIGGEST STAGE!!
SLEEP WELL, AND GET READY TO DO IT AGAIN----CONGRATS BUZZ

(Oh and by the way, all the angst and posts over you leaving is simply the emotion of none of us wanting you to leave---SO PLEASE DONT!! REMEMBER-- NONE OF THESE JOBS ARE AT SCHOOLS WITH THE BB HISTORY OF OURS---SOMEDAY SOON, AL'S RUN WILL BE SERVING BUZZ TEA, AT THE FINISH LINE)

Its Jimmy.

Buzz is the coach, and did an amazing job, but he isn't the stud of the game.

SERIOUSLY, this was a team victory.  Everyone played huge parts in this win. And i think it would only be justified if we gave this to the whole team.

5 points.  500 tears.  Not saying the goal is to make a guy cry, but Jimmy made a guy cry.

The reason its so hard to give a SOG to one person is because one person doesnt win a game, but one person can, and does lose a game (see Tu Holloway). Games are won as a team, taking one piece away from this win, whether it be Buzz, JFB, or DJO, and we don't win, all three contributing together with the rest of the supporting cast yields W's. Give it to the TEAM!

Indeed - I'm getting tired of it too.  Name a stud.  And add Todd R's vote for Jimmy as well.   ;D

Buzz all the way. Jimmy was great, but Buzz's scheme shut down one of the guys many pundits were saying would be a household name by the time this tournament was over.
