Title: God's Gift
Post by: jfmu on March 18, 2011, 10:44:31 AM
Looks like we're out according to Zags Blog.

QuoteNwora said Cincinnati, St. John's, West Virginia, Washington, Rhode Island and Niagara were in the hunt.

"Those are the ones that have really serious interest," he said.

Kentucky has also shown interest.

Does this mean we have backed off or he ruled us out?

Sounds more like we have backed off.  It is a list of schools still showing interest in God's Gift.  We seem to be keying on four year bigs for our last scholarship.  Jarion Henry and Kevin Thomas keep popping up.

Or maybe we backed off because he wasn't that interested. You are really trying to say MU wouldn't go after God' Gift if we had a real shot of landing him?

Yes, I think that might be the case.  I don't think he is as good as Scoopers make him out to be.

Just the way the article reads.  He listed teams showing interest in God's Gift, not the opposite.  Plus, with the emergence of Otule and Gardner, I don't think there is much need for a two-year big at this point.  It makes more sense in the long term to bring in a four year player with upside.

Henry would be interesting.  He 6'8 with NBA athleticism and a unique skill set.  12 rebounds a game and almost 8 assists.

Why does that matter?  Per Chicos on many occasions, a silly verbal doesn't stop us.

An "air craft carrier" would elevate this team from good to very, very good!
