If Buzz moves on down the road, it looks like someone familiar with the city might be available.
Should have written that in Teal. I would never attend another game.
Look, I'm probably more fond of Bruce than anyone else on this board. And, I think from a pure basketball standpoint, it's a no brainer. Pearl brings a brand of hoops that players enjoy and he flat-out fills arenas. In the past, though not recently, I've had this very conversation with him.
Pearl ain't commin' here.

i agree. I dont think MU wants a dirty guy here, regardless of the brand of players he brings in or that the "flat-out fills arenas". MU needs a guy that stands by the schools beliefs, cares about his players and the community and gets his guys to graduate. We gotta guy like this and hopefully he wont be leaving us anytime soon.
But between Pearl and Pat Summit, they have 8 National Championships.
edit: added teal to emphasize my 100% opposition of Pearl at any point in the history of MU basketball.

I'd move to Madison
Seriously, Bruce being Jewish, MU a jesuit school, not sure it meshes
with his beliefs??
I'm sure Marquette's beliefs wouldn't mesh with his. Certainly not because he is Jewish, though.
Pearl graduated from Boston College, a jesuit schoool.

This begs the question, then. Will Marquette seriously consider a man of color as our next head coach?

Didn't we do that with Tom Crean...??
(hahaa I'm just kidding )

I would hope so
Isn't Shaka Smart from Madison, Wisconsin?
Shaka Smart is from Oregon, WI...just south of Madison.

Well that should clearly be enough to yank him off any list.
;D
pearl is going to get fired the way Michigan is blowing them out opening this second half... I think they need another 2 guard on the floor,to drain some 3s, Maymon?
Am I the only one that thinks that Buzz is staying put?
WTF? Every other post is assuming he's gone to this job or that one.

Shhh...no lead is safe if Belien is coaching your team.
Jesus was jewish.
I'd have no problem hiring Jesus for MU coach.
up 22 with 14 to go should be safe... hopefully we can get pearl now!!
In approximately 13 minutes of basketball Bruce will be looking for a new job.

Bruce would fit the mold perfectly at USC once KO gets dumped...he and Kiff could share recruiting tips with one another!

Yes
Actually I am just hoping we get brucey as our coach
over under 2 days until brucey gets the axe?
With the way they look right now...unless they make a comeback, which I doubt, he'll probably get the axe before Monday at the earliest.
Demoralized... Total slaughter. Done.
Gottlieb tweeting that Buzz Williams will be a likely candidate for the University of Tennessee job once Pearl is let go this week.
Michigan ends the game on a 58-22 run.....they just quit.
And for those of us still bitter....Maymon ends it for Tenn bricking two free throws. That makes his season total for free throws 5 for 20. Bu yahhhh.

Harris appears to be the only one that showed up. So, is this the Maymon effect?

His Dad must be proud!
Pearl....dead man walking.
TMay, hello.
even in a blow out Maymon only sees what...a minute of play.
Yes, but the offense ran through him for that 1 minute and he rebounded very well. Just needs to practice free throws.
a friend emailed me this interesting stat that he heard on the Herd on ESPN radio:
11-12 coaches (not including Pearl and Tressel yet) that have lied to the NCAA are with out a job right now.
The one guy with a job.... Kelvin Sampson with the Bucks.
dont know how accurate it is, but interesting stat nonetheless.
Pearl will make 12 - 13... will Tressel make it 13 - 14? My opinion is that Tressel has too much clout at tOSU to get canned.
Tressel has said that his suspension should be 5 games instead of 2....the same amount of games his players are being suspended.

I agree with you that he should be fired, but will he? IMHO, no.

I'm sure this would lead to an emphasis on recruiting "traditional" players.
His best coaching job was the time his entire starting five fouled out, and he still finished the game with 18 eligible players. Kind of a reprise of that loaves and fishes thing.
Crean with a shot at Pearl just now......one the hosts said Michigan is the first team in tourney history to win a game without hitting a foul shot....Crean said that Tenn. did not play hard enough in the second half to even have a chance to put them at the line.
Well he wasn't wrong. Talk about quitting on your coach.

I agree....speaking his mind....I like it.
Earlier he also went after Pearl for not playing hard D vs. Michigan because they have "players and shooters" and he should have been more aggressive on D.
