Xavier is basically lead by 5 players who do all the scoring.
2 of them have not attempted a 3 all year.
the other 3 including the stud Holloway are all 34% or under from long range
this doesnt mean we win. But this is a match up we needed. Get the big guys Frease and Mclean in foul trouble and lets go!!!!!!!!!!!!

I like the way you think!
This is a match up we would have liked. Lets go out and play a good game!!
Oops -- just posted this in another thread and didn't realize you said basically the same thing.
For the season, Xavier was 33% from the 3-point line, good for #217 in the country. Unless they suddenly get hot, a la Mike Marra, you gotta like our chances. We even average more offensive rebounds per game than they do.
Like the draw. Don't love it, but my immediate reaction is a positive one. Much better than Villanova's GMU/OSU draw.
Edited: Looked at the wrong stat.
Cincy only like 3.5 hour drive to cleveland. Expecting a road game which is unfortunate. But can't complain, very winnable game.
I just dont like having to rebeat a BE team in the next round. Thats such BS
how did cuse get a 3 anyways?

They had to have done those 2 potential all-BE 2nd round games on purpose.

They did, no doubt. Any surprise the SC chair was a Big Ten guy? I tried my hand at seeding multiple times, and it was possible to prevent any Big East match-ups the first weekend while still preventing any in-season rematches of teams. The SC did that intentionally.

Yep, wealth distribution. They HAD to put 11 teams in, but they'll do everything they can to minimize the number of BE teams in the Sweet 16.
Xavier won 9 straight games before losing to Dayton in their tourney. Five of those 9 straight were on the road. They will be tough.

The game before that 9 win streak you speak of also came to #209 KP ranked Charlotte on the road.
The other wins in the streak came against #290, 209, 182, 168, 125, 125, 94, 64, and 57. Most of those teams are DePaul-level bad.
I really think MU got as good of a first round matchup as we could have asked for.
There is another way to look at it.
The starting five is UBER experienced and know how to play long minutes without getting into foul trouble.
MU's gotta try to get them into foul trouble by pounding them inside with the paint touches.
We have to CONVERT on their TOs and missed opportunities as well as limit our TOs and their 2nd chances.
A 27% shooter just knocked down 6 agaisnt us. Please, I guarantee they will have their best three point shooting night of the season. Washington couldn't hit a three last year until they played MU and then they couldn't miss.
I don't see any Top 25 RPI wins on X's resume

I think this is a big factor. Don't forget, though, Xavier has been in the Sweet 16 each of the last 3 years. They are clearly not as strong without Jordan Crawford.
Sean Miller is no longer the coach at Xavier though.
Granted he wasn't there last year, but those were still all his players.
Based on recent experience, 34% for the season equals about 60% 3 point shooting versus MU.
Still winnable.
It would be nice if we could cause guys to shoot off the dribble a little more instead of spot up jumpers from 3. Would help us a lot in our games.

Definitely agree here. It would be nice if we force the drive a little bit. The plus side to us forcing jumpers and 3s a lot though is the fact we do not foul often. Im just hoping we can have one of our games where we are solid from the line(70-75%) and get there a lot. If we do that we should win.

You forget that teams shoot better from 3 against MU.
Death, taxes, somebody has a career day shooting the 3 against MU.

More like a 5.5 - 6 hr drive.... but it will be more like a home game for them as many of their alums are from the Cleveland area

No, it's 3.5 - 4 hours. Made that drive many times. Milwaukee is under 7 hours, and Chicago's about 5.

I find it hard to bitch when the BEast beats the record for most teams by a conference by two. Not putting all 11 teams in the tourney would have been the real screw job.

Conjecture..no one knows this to be fact.
