Title: Did MU need the win vs WV to even make the tournament?

Sure looks like it was possible.

Can't look at seeds.  They juggle those around to avoid certain matchups.  Last year everyone had us as an 8 and we ended up a 6.  This year everyone had us as a 9/10 and we ended up an 11.

Yes we were one of the last 6 in!!!!

Apparently top 25 wins didnt mean crap but top 50 wins meant everythign????

I told you all that something was fishy and the political pull that big ten teams have

Yup...CBS just said we were one of the last 6 teams in.  Hardly "easily" in at 9-9.  We needed to win both.  Thank God we did.

Commencing thread lock any second now for stating the obvious but apparently that's not allowed

Saw the CBS graphic that put us as the last team in before the play-in games. I'd say we needed the WVU win.

To what, exactly, are you referring?

They are all big state universities that have a lot of Senators and Congressman that have attended those schools, who in turn can pull a lot of strings.  Can anybody look me in the eye and tell me that we had didnt have much better wins than Michigan, Penn State, Illinois, and Michigan State??

Looking at the bracket, if they took us out of the East Region, there were a lot of safe places to slot us at 7/8/9/10.  I think we were an 11 because the NCAA thought we were an 11, which means that its probably a very good thing that we beat WVU.

That said, I think we should have been seeded above Nova (.11-10 vs 9-10 in BE)

That said, we have a better shot at sweet 16 than Nova with our bracket.  Tougher round 1 for sure, but at least a reasonable shot in rd 2.

Or...they didn't even care what we did in the BET, and 9-9 was an "easy in" as one of the last 6.  You don't know for a fact that we had to win any games in the BET, so stop trying to report it as fact.

Can you look anyone in the eye and tell them that you have proof of any of this alleged string pulling?

So your theory is that the selection committee overseeded the B10 because a lot of Senators and Congressmen attended B10 schools?  Does this really make sense to you?

Thanks Rocky, for saying what I was going to say.  Chicos the "I have no adgenda" line is getting less and less believable.

That theory is just insane.

If this is your reasoning, why doesn't the Ivy League get three or four teams every year?

Last time I checked the last four Presidents attended either Harvard or Yale and I don't see their names on the board.

Who knows.  They may have moved our seeding to accommodate all the Big East teams.  We're in.  That's all that matters.

Me thinks you somehow have forgotten that Nova beat us in the regular season. Just a, shall we say, minor detail!
Title: We Were one of Last 6 At Large teams To Get In
Post by: willie warrior on March 13, 2011, 06:07:44 PM
So this "We are a lock at 9-9" is a crock. IMO, if we had only won the first tourney game, we would not have been in. The WVU win likely did it.

Some major shafts this year, Va. Tech and Colorado, and St. Mary's.

Most of the analysts are saying this is weakest field ever.

Probably the NCAA's way of saying we need to expand to 96 teams.

Perhaps.   But we got it so why the whining?

So all the other people that also said we likely needed to beat WVU have an agenda also?   ::)

Yes, but they're better than your "adgenda". (can't teal on mobile)
