Title: MU Playing in Tucson?
Post by: KED528 on March 12, 2011, 09:51:12 PM
I am in the Phoenix area for the week and I'm thinking about getting tickets to one of the Tucson games for the tourney. Now, my question: usually I don't care about where teams play and I don't know how that is determined but since I'm in the area, what are the chances MU will play in Tucson? Are there certain cities that have a higher probability of assignment for certain teams? (I do know No. 1 seeds are closer to home) Just trying to get some input before ticket prices skyrocket tomorrow night after the selection show. Thanks guys.

It is completely up in the air where MU plays since they will be one of the lower seeds in the pod.

If you think the ticket prices will skyrocket after the selection show, buy them now!  If MU plays there, awesome.  If not, you turn around and sell them for a profit.  The Selection Sunday price bump might be factored in already, but at the very worst it's win/break even, at the best it's win/win.

It just makes sense that tickets will be more expensive beginning tomorrow night or Monday morning now that people will for certain be looking for them. I'll go with your advice most likely and just get them tomorrow before the show and see what happens. I appreciate all the feedback, thanks.

last year i was unable to flip tickets in milwaukee (was out of town friday, went on sunday), can't assume there will be much more demand in tucson. unless arizona is playing there not sure how hot of a ticket it will be.

Having just been there for a week, I don't think one person talked about the tourney being in town next week. Wouldn't be a ton of demand in Tucson I wouldn't think, especially if they're dumb enough to put U of A on the same day as the games at McKale (which I'm recalling the committee has said they're trying to avoid, but haven't met yet).

One thing to think about, if Marquette is going to end up in the same pod as BYU, one team many of us are hoping for, we will have to play in Denver, Tucson, Washington DC, or Tampa, with Denver being the most likely site. Those games are on the 17th and 19th, and BYU won't play a Sunday game. Looking ahead, those games will also have to be in either the Southeast or West regionals, as those are the only two in which BYU will be eligible to play the second weekend.

Good God I hope it is in Tuscon. Heading out to White Sox spring training on tuesday but I would gladly give up a day of baseball to see MU in a live tournament game.
