It also says "for the third straight season, the Golden Eagles will dance." I guess they're not wrong...
I think that considering the developments of this week, we would have been moved to lock status even without the Providence win. Looking around the country, teams like Old Dominion, Gonzaga, and Butler are saving bids. Even teams like Belmont and Oakland might have squeaked on to the bubble had they lost their conference tourney, but both made it safely in. I can't even imagine just how bad some of the teams that make the field will be. I think when the bracket comes out, we'll all be laughing about the notion that Marquette was ever out.
Bracketology 101 has us now listed at a 9. The bracket isn't up yet, though. It'd be nice if we could play up to a 7, so as to avoid Ohio State and Kansas in a 2nd round game if we can win the first.
Gotta love when the logos of locked teams in your conference are twice as long as what's written.

I laughed at that too TT34. Having a feeling we're going to grab that 7 seed (regardless of tonight's outcome).
Finally, a lock!
I believe we will move up to a 6 or 7 seed. I don't understand the matchup considerations, but rpiforecast calculates them, and they have calculate us as actually being given a seed 2 slots better than their s-curve says we should be.

RPIForecast is good for some things, but seeding and likelihood of making the tourney are not ones you should look to them for. They currently have teams like Nebraska, Memphis, and New Mexico in. Even before yesterday, those teams were at best on the bubble. Even worse, they list UCF as being in, a team that went 6-10 in Conference USA. Meanwhile, Florida State is out? They went 21-9, 11-5 in the ACC, and have to be pretty much a lock to be in, probably in the 8-9 range.
I'm not saying a 6 or 7 isn't possible for us, but if we win another 2 games, RPIForecast could be saying we'll be a 3 seed.
