Ok, after Cincinnati and Seton Hall, I was pretty upset. Now we're probably going to the NCAAs and it's up to us to prove we're not cannon foddler for some 5, 6 or 7 seed. Even after last night, I have concerns.
The consistency problem bothers me. We should have beaten Cincy at home and played Seton Hall a lot closer than we did. If we're going to go far in the NCAAs, we have to be consistent and we have not shown that all year.
The secret in last night's game was we got out to a hot start and out-rebounded Providence. Doing that to West Virginia is another story -- and I don't even want to think about what would happen if we play Pitino's thugs or that creepy Irish team.
All-in-all, a convincing win against a team we should beat 9 times out of 10. Let's see what happens when we plat a real team.
No problem. One game at a time. Thuggy Bear is going down tonight.
Considering we actually dominated large stretches of the games against WVU, Notre Dame and Lville - I'm not THAT concerned.
I'm hoping that the team meeting was productive and partially affected last nights game as: seemed the rotations by Buzz weren't so herky jerky, seemed guys let loose with shots instead of incessant pump fakes, that Jimmy is taking a more assertive role on the team, etc.
It was Providence after all, but we looked very sharp last night.

[sigh] Really? Put the speculation to rest, for pete's sake.

I believe the "consistency problem" you reference has to do with the fact that the defenses we faced back to back weren't very consistent. Providence's defense was abominable this year. Worse than several mid-majors. Cincinnati's defense was one of the best in the entire nation. They make everyone look like sh*t. Hence, the offense looked great just a few short days before it looked stagnant. We're not as good as we looked against Providence, but we're certainly not as bad as we looked against Cincinnati. Keep oversimplifying it though. Glad to see you're back on the bandwagon!
Also, the word you've been searching for the past couple weeks is "fodder." Unless you're going for the urban dictionary definition of "foddler," in which case I'm not quite sure what that has to do with cannons.....
We are a good team, maybe not a great team, but a good team. Be happy that we are once again in the NCAA's, most likely. Good teams are going to loose to other good teams and loose to great teams. If we move the ball like we did early last night, and play with that high energy, we could be better than a good team... but it seems that this team is a little too inconsistent. I believe that is due to very limited D-1 experience on this roster. Which is a result of a coaching change, in my opinion. All's good as far as I'm concerned. And for the Buzz haters, if we make the NCAA's again, with his players, stop the hate.
Surprise, surprise. F*ckin's picture comes up when that "foddler" word is shown in the urban dictionary.

An awful lot of sports shows, columnists, bracket folks, coaches, did not concur with that

Wasn't there an earlier topic that positively identified the intended word as "fondler"?
Some sortof weird cannon fetish.
You were pretty upset? Here are a few of your posts for being "pretty upset". Hate to see you when you get get very upset, mad, angry, disturbed...

There is no way this team makes the NCAA! Their resume is just too weak and does anyone really think they'll beat UConn on the road? Really? Honestly?
Assuming the best and this team somehow flukes their way in (and it has happened -- see 1977, NCAA Tournament, Last Team in, Last team Out), the team is a 9 seed to a 12 seed. They end up playing a 5 seed to an 8 seed at a neutral court and get beaten, probably in the last five minutes.
This year's team is the NCAA version of Bill Murray's Ground Hog Day. It just keeps happening over and over and over and over again.
Candidly, the only way they win in the NIT (Or National Mid-Major Also-ran Championship) is if they draw a first and second round home game.
Sadly, this team should be better. As I said under "Leadership," there's something lacking in their game management. They don't deserve an NCAA bid and if they get one, it's not worth the trip.
Nice to know I am soooo loved. Let's put it in words I can spell:
We're one and done.
Period. Unless the team that showed up for Notre Dame or UConn shows up for the tournament. Here's hoping, but we have only one quality road win this year -- UConn.

My kids, by the way, say the same thing. Except they'll argue disturbed most of the time.

I guess the one guy I trust, Joe Lunardi, who is a ridiculous 99% on his teams, does not count then.

UConn.... the same team you guaranteed we wouldn't beat? Please continue to predict we have no chance for anything the rest of the season - I like our odds when you spout such negativity!
