Kevin Noreen, a 6'11" player who MU chased for while last spring after he decommitted from Boston College, and who then ended up at West Virginia is on a streak of 19 DNPs which started with our first game against West Virginia. He did play in West Virginia's first BE game against St. John's.
It's looking like we did better by hanging in there on Davante Gardner while he made his decision last spring.
I hate comparing college freshmen. I hope Gardner has a better career, obviously, and he's looking better than Noreen at this point. But players improve so much by the time they're seniors, and they improve at different rates. Those that sit as freshmen (i.e. our own Jamailman and Erik Williams) might just have better players in front of them. That doesn't mean they aren't improving every day in practice. It's only fair to compare players as upper-classmen.

Yeah but, his purpose is served by raising the Mountaineers overall GPA.
I am not 100% sure but I think Noreen got injured early in the season and is now a medical redshirt candidate. It is hard to tell whether or not he will be more productive than Gardner down the road.
Not just that, but who is in front of him in the rotation? Gardner is playing because we are thin at the post. Jamail isn't playing because he has a lot of players ahead of him in the rotation. Does that mean that Gardner is "better" than Jamail? No.

Dude, he had season-ending surgery. Bursa on his right knee. Medical hardship waiver candidate. It was a calculated decision to have the surgery because it was going to keep effing with his knee.
