Title: SOG
Post by: nyg on March 08, 2011, 10:48:25 PM
Butler deserved it without a doubt, but I have to give some props to Gardner.  I thought he played outstanding with 9 points and 7 rebounds and some baskets/rebounds came at key times.  With the exception of that blown layup he missed, I believe he really contributed to this win.

Agree -- Butlers defense, scoring and effort was awesome!

I cant wait for Gardner in a few years when hes more polished. Hes gona be a beast with his abilities to make free throws for a big man.

With his stroke at the line, theres no way his % can get worse. Love the form.

During the game ESPN said Butler had 8 assists. Did that change?

Jimmy Butler 2 assists shy of the 2nd triple double in MU history while playing great D against the best offensive player in the Big East.

Jimmy F88king Butler!!    Played like a man today.  Kept the ship sturdy when some guys were looking shaky in the second half.

I would go with Jimmy for SOG for all the aforementioned reasons. DJO was very good tonight too.

ESPN's box score says 8, but Marquette's says 7.  Using Marquette's as the official right now, so if they update it, we'll fix the SOG.

Err...uh...we'll change it to 8 until Marquette is convinced to change theirs.

I thought DJO was awesome tonight as well.  Can't argue with JFB, but DJO had a great game, especially some of those drives/breakaways in the 2nd half.

No brainer it was JB as he has really picked it up and I hope his trips to the charity stripe continue as we go deeper in our tourney runs.

Great job Buzz as the team was well prepared and he kept the pressure on the Friars in the 2nd half by continuing to pound the ball inside.

Maybe Crowder will get going again tomorrow like the first game against WV.
