Jamailman with a trey bomb to but a bow on it!
Barring a total collapse tomorrow, do we potentially get a higher seed than 'Nova?
The hell with that. Can we beat West Virginia? I say...YES!!
Simply, yes.
I do not feel like we are a "lock" right now. I feel very good about making the tourney but not a lock. If we beat West Virginia then we are a lock.
To me lock means you are willing to bet good money and give 10-1 odds we are in. I would not be willing to do that. However, even losing tomorrow's game I would feel pretty good on Selection Sunday (though still nervous).
Yes, but lets beat WVU and keep playing BE basketball.
YES. We are a friggin lock people.
we need one more win

None of the naysayers put their money where their mouth was when I offered to take bets MU was In on Saturday night.
I will take all action at 10-1 that MU is in... your 10 vs my hundo.
Lock city
I want revenge of Louisville so bad, so lets keep it going!
We can take down West Virginia again. Tonight MU saw what happened to Villanova and made it a point not to let the same thing happen to them. I'm sure WVU was sitting in on our game just now and if I were Huggins I'd be a bit concerned. Before the BE Tourney the door was shown to us. After tonight the door has been opened. Now the only way to walk through it is to win tomorrow and then we're certainly dancing.
I feel pretty good about it...but what happens if Rutgers or USF win in all. Does the Big East send 12...I don't think so. So it would be Nova or MU. If MU beats WV, then Nova is on the bottom of the Big East.
We punched our ticket @ UCONN

I don't think you have to worry about that actually happening.

I do too, BUT not coming off games on 2 consecutive days while Louisville will be fresh. MU would be out of gas as the game wore on I suspect, similar to last year.
It's all gravy now in the BEast tourney. We are IN.

I am not worried as that is a very tall order but my definition of a lock is regardless of what happens you are in. There is two scenarios that prevent it being a lock. I would say 99.999999999999999999999999999999999999999%
We're in
to me a lock means that you are assured a spot regardless of what happens with other teams. i dont think we're there yet. i think it would take a ton of spots to get eaten up by non at large conference tourney champs, but theres enough insanity that could still knock us out. but it would take a once a lifetime amount of turnover at the top.

No. MU is in. Playing for seeding now.
Well done by Buzz tonight. Had the boys ready to go.

I get that you will not be nervous come Selection Sunday. What I am stating is that I WILL BE NERVOUS. And why would I bet against my own team? I would bet FOR my team if the odds made me feel comfortable and I would not bet 10-1 odds of us getting in if we lose against WVU.
MU is in for God sakes, the question is can they get up to say a 7 seed? I really hope they fall out of that 8/9 game line, but I got a feeling they end up there.

Neither USF nor Rutgers will win the tournament. The best either could hope for is to win one more game before bowing out. But even if they did take the whole thing, we're still in. There's no limit on number of teams per conference. They aren't going to toss us out and bring in shittier teams instead just because a bad team wins the BET.

Oh that would taste so sweet. I just want to watch Butler play as many more games in an MU uniform as possible. What an incredible recruit to kick off the Buzz Williams era!
Bilas and the boys on ESPNU just said Marquette is definitely in
BE sends 11 to the dance
This is a good strand because I was wondering if anyone in the country still thought mu was not a lock, and I believe there are about 10 people - nomorebuycks, buycks@ucks and a few posters on this strand and for the past few days.
My only question is, are you out of your mind? Wehave not even made the last 8 in list, and if you simply insist the committee might balk at taking 12 be teams if rutgers won the title (wow, we are reaching), then guess what NOVA is the team they drop.
The denial is unreal.

Sorry, the thread title was sarcastic. We're in for sure, with an 11 seed at the very worst. I was mainly wondering if this now means we get seeded higher than Villanova in the big dance. Also what do people think our ceiling is? Say we beat WVU then taste sweet revenge against Louisville - does that put us at a 7?
LOCK. End of story.
Great game. Good job guys, all around. I was particularly happy with how they answered the PC charge at the end of the 1st/beginning of the 2nd half. Defense wasn't even bad really - they just were on fire. But MU settled down and went right back at them - much better than in some of the other games this year. Very happy to see that.
Nice rebound from a rough week.

I'm with you on the 8th or 9th seed scenario, i'd rather get a 10th seed over an 8th/9th.
The difference this year between playing a 7th seed in the first round vs facing a 8th-9th seed will largely be non-existent, but then if you win that first round game as a 10 seed, you don't have to get stuck facing a No. 1 seed like OSU or Kansas in the next game.
Don't think we are a lock, but the win helped. If we lose the next one, we will be 19-14 with about a 65 RPI. Our conference esteem could get us in with 19-14, but lets beat WVU and Thuggins. That should solidify it.

It really depends on what criteria the committee uses. It seems based on the past few years that RPI, despite what they may say, is playing less and less of a role. It still matters, but I'm not sure if it's the top factor anymore. If that's true, we may already be on the verge of a 7.
The only real worry is adjusted seed lines. We could be a true 10 that gets adjusted down into an 8/9 matchup, or a true 7 that is adjusted up to one, simply because the Big East could place as many as three 2-seeds, and both Cincy and Nova could also be slated for 7/10 matchups. There is no way, even with 12 Big East teams, that any will be seeded to meet the first weekend.
If we beat WVU and UL, I think we have a shot at a 6. Beating ND should lock that, while our highest upside if we win the tourney would probably be a 5.

i agree
If we beat WVU and lose to Louisville, I'd be worried about an 8/9 matchup. As much as I love watching our boys play in the Garden, a loss tonight would not be the end of the world since it would most likely result in a 10 seed in the Dance. Obviously, I still want to win, but there will be a silver lining, in my opinion, if we lose.
