Just became the hornets newest fan. Contgrats to 'Rel!
Great news! Well deserved chance.
Awesome news Jerel. Kick some ass.
'Bout time Crean got his connections to go to bat for McNeal.
Fantastic news, he's worked hard for the chance, now
let's hope he can make the most of it.
Sweet! Looks like I can bust out my Hornets warmup pants! Good luck Jerel!
Yay! Good luck, Jerel!!

Great for Jerel! About time he got a break!
sweet
Great job Jerel! Now we just need to get Dom in there for the trifecta.
What's the latest on Dom? Where is he playing?

Does this mean I win the bet now? 2 of the big 3 made it
;D
I thought you won the bet once Wes made it. Wasn't the bet that none of them would make it?

Lol. I'm getting old....hell, I can't remember. I thought that bet was for Lazar making it but now that I think about it, you're right.
Go get em Rel!
Nice!
One day late. He could have played in his hometown last night.
I always thought Jerel had the best chances of making it in the pros. Hoping he proves me right!

You old farts can't remember? The bet was none of the 3 would be on a roster on opening day. They weren't so I won that bet. Last year the same was wagered with regard to Lazar. Chicos won. He also begged off the same wager on the table for this season with Buycks, Butler, or FrozenA.

So do I get paid double now that two made it?
:P
And I will remain away from the second bet, as I'm taking your side with the current seniors. I believe Reinko and I have that bet going with JFB
Will you be making the bet on next years class with DJO and Crowder?
NICE! Glad Jerel is getting his shot. The Hornets are a good fit for him, too...when in doubt, dump it to West/Okafor, or kick it to Ariza for 3s.

I forgot about that bet Mr. CBB.
I am game, any New England area delicacies tickle your pickle? Perhaps some fresh scallops, or a 5 lb. steamed lobster?

Mods, we clearly need a side bets board.
Hope Jerel shows 'em (Hornets or opponents) that he sticks.

I love lobster, scallops and crab. I'd go for any of those. Some high end California wins you might interested in? Or something else?
Let me say, I hope I lose this bet. I like JFB a lot. Would love to see him make it, seems like a good guy and he's certainly a Warrior.
anyone know how much his contract is worth?

TOTAL guess, but they play four games over the stretch of his contract. Assuming he gets paid the minimum NBA salary (if that's how 10-day contracts work), it comes out to a little over $23k. Not bad for 10 days.
($473,604/82)*4 = $23,102
Even if only for a week or so, 5 Warriors in the League at one time. Not too bad. Can't imagine when the last time that would have been the case. Back to the Al days?

Can't guarantee accuracy, but based upon a quick search:
1973: Chones, Kojis, Lackey, Meminger, McGuire (2 games), McNeill, Thompson
1974: Chones, Kojis, Lucas, McNeill, Meminger, Thompson

Will this go in the media guide? The IU media guide? ;)
FYI 10 days contracts in the NBA is 60k. If he ends up getting signed for the season then he gets paid league minimum which is 400k.
I'm not questioning it, but it it strange that two 10 day contracts would earn someone 30% of a full minimum salary. Good for Jerel!

They already have the banner-raising ceremony scheduled for the home opener next year at II,II,II

I don't think 60k is totally accurate. The minimum salary a 10-day contract can offer is the # of days in the contract divided by the # of days in the regular season multiplied by the minimum annual salary. Note that 10-day does not mean 10 games.
Example:
Minimum salary is $400,000
# of days in NBA regular season is 170
Salary = 10/170 x $400,000 = $23,529
So if Jerel signs a 2nd 10-day contact he will earn roughly $47k. Still not a bad 3 weeks "work" and pretty close to the $60k you referenced.

What's the likelihood of him even getting on the court? I imagine he's a backup to a backup, even with Paul out. Do guys who get called up due to an injury do anything more than practice and get some DNPs? (Not that he couldn't show some value at practice, and I certainly hope he does, and finds a way of not being let go.)

Novak got some limited PT when the Spurs called him up and apparently they liked him enough to give him a second 10-day contract then lock him up for the rest of the year.

Was Novak replacing an injured player, or were the Spurs looking for someone to fill a need? Seems to me that there might be a difference there.

True, Novak wasn't called up for an injury, and the Spurs have the luxury of tinkering with the end of their bench with a 5 game lead for the 1 seed while the Hornets are fighting for their playoff lives. Bit of a difference.
Like you said, I hope he gets a chance to prove himself.
My favorite one of the big 3 ever since i had to kick dom james out of my house for hooking up with my roommates gf. He was so fun to watch on d. on the ball or off of it i always watched him especially when we needed a big TO and he was going to jump a pass and one of the most intense people on a court i've ever seen. I don't think i ever saw him smile.
Nice, what kind of a house you runnin' when James had a daughter with another broad? No wonder he couldn't make a free throw or shoot. The dude was spent and couldn't concentrate.

Charlie Sheen sent Jerel a message reminding him to stay off weed

The Bucks picked up Garrett Temple on a 10-day contract in January and he played some decent minutes.
