Title: Next Couple Games
Post by: willie warrior on March 06, 2011, 07:24:43 AM
OK, I am going to take Rocky's advice and not be "overly negative", although I do not believe being objective and pointing out flaws is "overly negative", but will leave that aside.

We should be set up well for next few games:
Providence: We just crushed by 24. No problem
West Va.: We beat them earlier in the year, but we should win--that victory will prove our worth
Louisville: A chance for redemption for the melt down. A chance to beat Slick Rick. By the way, I believe that Louisville lost most of their starters from last year, and is still doing well. But we should beat them also. That should put us in the semi-finals, and anything after that will be gravy.

So now I am upbeat and positive, a no brainer that we are in the semi-finals. The second season alwyts springs eternal. Players and coach need to regroup and focus on each game. They are all winnable--especially the first one with Providence, who does not play D.

We had just crushed Seton Hall too.

We can win, if we get DJO, Crowder and Buyckes going. We are not going to win if we have Blue, Cadougan and otule on the floor for extended periods. We will not be able to score playing all of them at once.

We did not crush SH. I believe that we won by 9 on our floor. That is not a crush. And I recall that they had their chances to close on us in that first game.

"They are all winnable--especially the first one with Providence, who does not play D."  -  ought to be a real track meet, then!

Too much Pollyanna talk about Providence on this board, I'm afraid. How does one go about shoring up horrendous defensive leaks, stagnant offensive sets, a reluctance to take open shots, and indifferent, careless ball-handling in just two days, when no visible progress solving these problems can be seen after four months of practice and play?

Being in a track meet with PC (assuming we even get by them) doesn't inspire confidence that we can take a rested WVU the following day.
